(1) my 2010 Cadillac Dts is equipped with the factory optional chrome rims. The car was built the end of may, 2010, and by June, 2014, with approximately 54,000 miles, one rim was so badly corroded it would no longer hold air. One other rim was also corroding badly, but was still holding air before I replaced it. The other two rims had some corrosion, but to a much lesser extent than the others. The low tire pressure warning sensor had stopped working on the tire that was losing pressure, but is working satisfactorily on the new rim. In my opinion, Cadillac should be forced to recall any of these rims that have corroded--true, michigan uses salt on its road during the winter, but this is something Cadillac certainly knew about and that it sells a larger number of cars in michigan. Further, the list price for replacement rims from Cadillac is approximately $900. 00 per rim--$3600. 00 for all four! I could live with the corrosion in terms of appearance, but a rim that will not hold air is definitely a safety hazard, and it occurred fairly early on in the vehicle's operational life. (2) my 2010 Cadillac Dts had the bulb on its upper driver's side front turn signal burn out after four years and 54,000 miles. It turned out it is a two-person job to replace the bulb (which is a mundane, traditional incandescent bulb, not a led) and a labor cost of more than $200. 00. The replacement is not something even a fair-to-middling shade tree mechanic can undertaken--it really requires a dealership. I am afraid that a lot of people, when they find out the cost of replacing the bulb, will simply say to hell with it. The safety hazards caused by that is intutively obvious to even the most casual observer. Cadillac should be forced to warranty all of its exterior lights and not exclude them from their warranty, extended or otherwise.

Daytime running lamp (drl) / turn signal bulb appears to have melted the headlight housing. Bulb failure caused owner to discover problem. Melted housing will no longer accept bulb fixture. This seems flawed and results in a safety issue where turn signal on front of car is inoperable without expensive replacement of entire headlight housing. New housing may not solve heating problem that causes melting. This problem, and similar consequences of excess lamp heat, is reported by other owners on the Cadillac forum.
The daytime running lights and front turn signal light sockets in both headlamps have burnt contacts. I took my 2008 Cadillac Dts to the dealer to have the bulbs replaced as my turn signals weren't working. They replaced the bulbs. Two days later they quit working again. I took the car back and they checked it again and informed me that the lamp sockets were burnt and that I would have to replace the entire headlamp assembly because there wasn't a replacement socket available. The cost was going to be approximately $1000 each with labor. I believe this a safety issue and Cadillac should either provide a replacement socket or cover a part of the part and labor. Right now I have the sockets temporarily repaired with paper clips and aluminum foil because on social security I can't afford their cost to fix but I won't drive on the road with no front turn signals and endanger other folks on the road.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6)
my 2006 Cadillac Dts [xxx] has an intermittent hid headlight problem that occurs in colder temperatures. The lamps will flicker and one or the other will go out. The only way to get the headlight to come on again is to turn off the headlights and turn them on again. The vehicle has been in to the local Cadillac dealer, and is in there now, but they don't seem to be able to fix the problem. Also, the right taillight/brakelight/turnsignal will occasionally go out completely. The side-marker led lights still illuminate, but the rest of the light assembly goes dark and the turn signal in the back doesn't work. This also happens in cold weather. The dealer hasn't been able to fix this problem either. Similar problems are being documented in the Cadillac owners forum online.
