My 2000 Cadillac Eldorado has had the "camshaft positioning sensors" replaced 3 times since I've owned the car (2000). Although gm has "TSB"'s out for this problem they claim mine is not covered because the VIN # is not the same as the one indicated on this particular "TSB" same car----same trouble !!!!!!! . They will not honor it. This seems to me like saying "we'll fix the blue ones,but not the black ones". This is my 3rd Cadillac------& my last !!!!!!!!!!.

The contact owns a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado. The low coolant indicator would illuminate and the contact constantly had to refill the coolant receptacle. The oil light illuminated once. While driving the contact noticed a cloud of smoke appearing from under the hood. A repair shop diagnosed the failure as blown head bolts from within the block. The vehicle needed a new transmission. The current and failure mileage were 53000.

2001 Cadillac without warning lost both steering and braking on two occasions. This failure occurred as a result of a malfunctioning crank sensor and resulted in the engine losing power. The consumer has filed three formal complaints about this problem, two with the dealer and one with the manufacturer. The dealer admitted that Cadillac had a known sensor problem from 2000 to 2004.
