I brought my Cadillac Escalade in on two different instances where it stopped on me. One time it completely died, the other time it stopped and turn off, then needed to be restarted, with multiple instances. Both times the dealership told me it was related to the fuel pump, and they replaced it. Since then, I brought it in again saying it had random shakes and noises, and they claimed it does that when its in all wheel drive. This doesn't make sense. I have been using it in 2wd as recommended, and it still has the shakes and noises. In the past few weeks, the car stopped on my twice. One time I was making a left turn at a stop sign, the other, I was in the middle of an intersection. Now, I will not drive it out of fear for my family and own lives. I called to make an appointment at autonation Cadillac west palm beach, and they said there is nothing that can be done since the engine needs to be replaced, and Cadillac still hasn't issued a remedy. They said for me to call Cadillac directly, which I did. Cadillac opened a case for me, and told me I would receive a call in 1-2 days. I called back on day 3, and was told that I have to wait for the person who was assigned to my case to call me. They informed me that it may take a while because Cadillac had cut the help center's (including recall department) work hours to save money, while they should have been increasing it during this massive recall. Now I have no car to drive my family in, and no response from Cadillac, with no resolution in site.
I am reporting a serious safety concern involving the 2022 Cadillac Escalade engine recall (gm 6. 2l v8, rpo l87). My vehicle is used to tow a trailer regularly. The potential for engine failure due to defective connecting rods or crankshaft components poses a severe risk—especially while towing at highway speeds or on inclines. Loss of power while towing could compromise braking and control, endangering both myself and others. This concern should be escalated for owners who rely on these vehicles for towing. I am asking NHTSA to review how gm is prioritizing recall repairs for towing-use customers and to consider this a higher-risk category for resolution. My current situation is I have an appointment with williamson Cadillac in miami to scan the vehicle. If they determine its satisfactory to drive I will be towing a 7000 lb. Trailer from florida to upstate new york. I'm very concerned that if I lose the engine I will have an exasperated safety issue because of the large trailer. There will be greatly reduced stopping power and limited room to pull off the highway. I need to be in saratoga springs with the trailer and its contents before may 19. Please advise, as I do not want to cause a fatal accident that could have been avoided.

We were driving down the road and the car completely quit running I could not steer it and it was moving to a coast mode the motor locked up and it had to be replaced since being replaced I keep hearing tapping noises in the motor and everytime I bring it in they always say there nothing wrong with my car I also stated that sometimes it cuts out or loses power but still they say nothing is wrong now trying to trade it in has been a nightmare.
I was driving on the new jersey parkway when my car just shut down in the middle of the road. The dealer believes it’s the engine- how can this happen to a car 2 years old?.
On [xxx], while driving my 2022 Cadillac Escalade premium sport — which I had just purchased earlier that day — the vehicle suddenly shut down without any warning while I was actively driving on a busy street in decatur, georgia. Fortunately, the incident occurred while I was making a turn and traveling at a relatively low speed. I lost all control of the vehicle but was able to coast into the center turn lane and activate the hazard lights to avoid a collision. A police officer arrived on the scene and positioned their vehicle to prevent mine from being struck by oncoming traffic. Although I initially suspected a battery issue, the vehicle still had full electrical power. The officer contacted a towing service, and the vehicle was towed first to my home and later to the Cadillac dealership for evaluation. Today, I was informed by the dealership that the vehicle — which has fewer than 25,000 miles on it — requires a complete engine replacement. I am extremely concerned about the safety implications of this unexpected failure, especially given the low mileage and the fact that the vehicle had just been sold to me. I am submitting this report in hopes that this issue will be thoroughly investigated to prevent similar occurrences for other drivers. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be typing this message today. Given the abrupt and total shutdown of the vehicle, this could have resulted in a very serious accident — or worse. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine, with the oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that metal shavings were found in the engine and that the engine would be replaced with the wheel bearings and rear differentials. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,482.
My vehicle is currently at bob moore edmond ok. I did not have my car one month before the engine failed. Main bearing went bad. Needs a complete motor. I am stuck paying for this motor. The wait for a new motor is at least 6-8 weeks.
I was driving with my children in tow. My "reduced acceleration light" came on as well as my check engine light. Within minutes of these turning on, my car went into limp mode (shifted in neutral) and would not accelerate and steering felt locked up. I quickly got off to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. When I restarted, the vehicle would not go into reverse or any gear other than park. This was terrifying. Thankfully, the road I was on had a speed limit of 40; however, had I been on the GA 400 or I-285, my family could have been easily involved in an accident. I had the vehicle towed to the local Cadillac dealership. After a week, I am told it is a faulty control valve body and that there is no eta on when this part with be available. The tow truck driver stated I was the 3rd Escalade driver in the last two weeks that the same issue had occurred. I will be reaching out to a lemon law attorney as well. This vehicle is still under warranty.
While driving 55mph on a highway (rt 33) at 9pm on 3/6/2025, the vehicle shut down and went into neutral. The vehicle coasted to the shoulder of the highway. It was a very dangerous situation with virtually no vehicles following the move over law and flying by us at 60 plus mph. The vehicle was towed to capellino Cadillac in williamsville, NY where it sat for days without anyone looking at it or moving from the parking spot where it was dropped off. On 3/13/2025, I phoned service to find out the status of my vehicle and was told the engine was "blown". This without anyone even looking at it. I was told that it is becoming a frequent problem with low mileage motors and the motor would have to be sent to gm for evaluation and my motor replaced.
Driving on the highway under normal load and then all of a sudden motor starts to tic then gets louder and warning comes on saying low oil pressure turn off engine now before I could get off the highway safely the motor completely shuts off once I was safely over and stopped waited for a bit and attempted to restart the vehicle and it wouldn't do anything what so ever that moment I realized that the engine completely seized and left me stranded it showed zero signs of issues before that and completely caught me off guard now I have a 86000 truck sitting in my driveway with no time frame of when it will be repaired.
No warning out of nowhere while driving about 35mph the car stopped driving but still had power then I pressed gas again and it jerked me and stopped driving again so slowly had to pull off the road to get out of traffic. Cadillac wouldn’t move back or forward when gears shifted. Called aaa to pick up car and take to the dealership. No explanation or calls to what is happening to my car. Has been 1 month since have no replies or answers what’s happening with my vehicle.
Without any prior symptoms or warnings when I was driving on the highway I felt the car losing power and the car started to slow down in the middle of the road and then check engine light came on when I was on my way to pull over. When I stopped, I felt a strong vibration throughout the car, as if it was about to shut down. Then it actually stopped. I tried once to start it, but failed. I towed the car to the dealership . It took them 4 days to diagnose it , l they charged me a diagnose fee for removing the top of the engine and then a separate fee for removing the bottom of the engine. Then they told me they had to call Cadillac support because they didn't know what to do. I waited about a week to know the result and then unfortunately they told me that I had to replace the entire engine and pay about $13,000. Let me tell you I was at the same dealership 4 days before what happened. I was there because they recommended me to do a throttle body cleaner. I did the recommended service and they confirmed that everything was working properly and the car is perfectly fine. Let me also tell you that I do all the maintenance, I change the oils even before the time for changing them, I use a premium gas from top tier station, now the car at the dealership since February 2025 , my car's engine is back ordered, they don't have any expectations or time frame or even average wait time! so frustrated and nothing to do. It is truly a disaster and I do not know what I did to deserve this material and moral suffering. I hope to god that you help me to be justified in this clear injustice. Thank you;.
I was driving 70 mph on the highway and the engine shut off with no warning. The screen said to press start again. That's when I realized the engine was off. I pulled over it took four or five tries to turn the engine back on it. Cranked multiple times before it turned over. Got it back on drove another half mile and then the engine seized. We had it towed an hour south of where we were. The dealer had no loaners and there were no rental cars anywhere in the vicinity. We had to rent a cargo van and drive me, my wife and my three kids and cousin in a cargo van (zero rear seats) back to our house which was another hour and a half south of there. We were driving north for a weekend vacation with was cancelled. The whole experience with exception of the very nice tow driver was an absolute nightmare. Now we are without our car not sure what to do. The Escalade needs a new engin, $155k car and no one seems to care. This Escalade has been in the shop at the dealer many times before for extended periods of time for computer issues, brake issues, dashboard issues. You name it this car has it.
Engine failure while driving on the highway resulting in the vehicle being towed to the dealership and requiring a brand new engine. Being advised by the dealership that this will likely take 3+ months to replace as they have 2 other Escalades in the service department still waiting on a new engine and have been there for over 2+ months.
Engine the engine shut off at 70mph with no warning and I lost complete power. I had a tractor trailer behind me and one on my left side no power I was nearly killed . Rotolo chevolet replaced the 6. 2l v8 engine vehicle was inspected by rotolo chevolet and they said it was engine failure there was no warning that the Escalade would just shut off at a high rate of speed. It completely just lost power. I only had 85,000 miles on the Escalade. I had taken it to rotolo chevolet because I had all the tires changed. While diagnosing my problems with tires they told me of the engine making noise. I had them change the oil but they said it needed a engine. I had no idea this would happen. Does gm want to rob their customers so badly that they would jeopardize their life for greed. I think the Escalade cost enough.
My husband, 2 young children and I were driving on the frontage road to the interstate at approximately 55 miles per hour when the engine suddenly stopped functioning and almost caused a catastrophic wreck with the cars around us. The Cadillac dealership it was towed to evaluated it and determined it had experienced total engine failure. It’s covered in the NHTSA’s investigation into the 6. 2 l v8 gm engine.
I was driving with my family and kinds a car a freeway and vehicle start making loud sounds and shut off we were so scared caz it got stopped on the middle of traffic and I couldn’t checking the lane caz of heavy traffic it was scary moment of my life talked to the dealership they took two months to get me a new engine under warrenty but I didt have my car for three months now they gave me my car back with no warrenty yhis is terrible I know it will happen again.
I purchased a used 2022 Cadillac Escalade. With 34,000 miles. . . As I was driving in the highway the engine failed. No brakes, everything went black on the screen and engine was out. Dealership told me it was harness chaffing and fixed it. No less than a week later, on the highway, the engine seized and failed. New engine is being ordered. This was extremely dangerous at high speeds and almost killed us, twice.
While driving 70 mph on the highway, my Escalade flipped into neutral and ultimately died in the middle of the highway. There was absolutely no warning. I was traveling with my husband and three children. We could have been involved in a serious accident as cars and 18 wheelers were flying by, and had to Dodge our vehicle. Luckily, we were able to exit the car and get on the side of the highway. I refuse to ever drive this vehicle ever again. Especially after researching and seeing others with the same issue.
Driving on the interstate, vehicle slowed down, pulled over and put the car in park. Shut car off, tried to restart and it would not start. Cadillac dealership says vehicle needs a new engine. Bought brand new in 2022.
My engine was replaced in January of 2025 before the actual recall. I have the serial [xxx] for my new engine . I need to know the build date of this engine so that I can know if my 2nd engine is a new engine with the corrected crankshaft or the remaufactured engine with the defective crankshaft. Gm refuses to tell me the build date I have a right to know. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The engine completely failed and shut down without any warning indications while driving 72 mph on [xxx] in wesley chapel, FL. I could no longer accelerate to get out of the way I had to coast to a stop and was able to thankfully make it to the shoulder. The tow company that provided service stated that I was the third or fourth gm SUV that he personally towed in the past week that experienced the same failure on the interstate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Incident #1 - exiting a parking garage and the vehicle shut off. My wife was able to pull into a parking spot. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the resolution was a faulty fuel pump module. Incident #2 - my wife was at highway speed 65mph during rush hour 4 lanes of traffic when without warning the truck engine shut off and the vehicle shifted to neutral. I dont know how but she was able to wrestle the vehicle to the side of the highway where we spent 6 hours on the shoulder which was as wide as the vehicle. This could have ended in a fatality either while getting the vehicle to the side of the road or while waiting for the dealer to have our vehicle towed. --- end result was that the engine locked up. We have been waiting 1 month already for a new engine and per the dealer it may be several months more.
Driving vehicle between 70-80 miles an hour on the freeway when the car switched into neutral and lost all engine power. No warning lamps or any indication of failure. I was able to steer vehicle to left side of freeway and it had to be towed. It was not a safe location as cars were flying by just feet from the dibbled vehicle. It never started again. Towed to local Cadillac and have been told the car experienced catastrophic engine failure.

Complete engine failure with no prior warning and vehicle is currently at dealer waiting for new engine to arrive. The lives of myself and my children were at risk as the engine failure occurred while traveling at about 55 mph on a rural country road with cars having to swerve around me before I came to a complete stop on the shoulder of road. Again there was no prior warning or warning lights on the vehicle. The Cadillac dealership in texarkana has inspected the vehicle and determined the engine failed and needs a completely new engine.
Lifters and fuel injectors failed at 45000 miles. Replaced under warranty.
