About 11pm driving 70 on freeway started feeling pull back and then started to hear a knock noise. So turned down the music and the knock noise was getting louder as I was driving so I went to the right lane as I went to the right lane I felt like the car was pulling back and slowing down even as I accelerated… knock got even louder and I decided to exit the freeway early instead of getting to my destination. As I exited the freeway the entire car shut down lights flickered check engine went on and low oil pressure flickered once but then turned off. I couldn’t get it in park couldn’t get the car to turn over. I was able to get out of the middle of the intersection turning off the freeway and pulled gas station called aaa. I’ve had no prior problems or warning lamps before this problem happened with the vehicle. I have videos of the whole incident that will not let me download on bottom of page. “2023 Escalade esv, VIN [xxx]. Towed to Cadillac of laguna niguel. Dear national highway traffic safety administration, I am writing to report a serious vehicle safety concern involving my 2023 Cadillac Escalade esv. The vehicle is currently displaying the following warning messages: "service leveling system" "vehicle too low, drive with caution" in addition, the vehicle is visibly sitting lower than normal, indicating a potential suspension system failure. On September 20, 2023, NHTSA announced recall campaign number 23v642000 related to improperly heat-treated rear suspension bolts that could fail and affect vehicle stability and safety. Based on the symptoms my vehicle is exhibiting, I believe it may be experiencing the same defect addressed by this recall. Given the similarity between the reported recall condition and the issues affecting my vehicle, I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter and determine whether my vehicle's VIN should be included in recall 23v642000 or whether additional investigation is warranted. This condition presents a potential safety risk and requires urgent attention. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your review and response.
On xxx, dimmitt Cadillac of pinellas park confirmed three tires on my 2023 Cadillac Escalade esv (VIN: [xxx]) at 3/32" tread depth with alignment wear damage — unsafe for highway travel at 41,796 miles. A fourth tire replaced via warranty at 20,586 miles is now at 7/32". All four tires are destroyed or degraded. This alignment condition was never identified or communicated across six service visits at two authorized Cadillac dealerships spanning March 2024 through December 2025, each including tire rotations and multi-point inspections by certified technicians. It was mentioned once on August 1, 2025 as a routine upsell with no urgency, no description of existing damage, and no warning that tires were being destroyed. The vehicle showed no symptoms of alignment loss — no pulling, vibration, or handling anomaly. No collision, pothole strike, or road hazard occurred. The condition developed within two years and 25,000 miles of purchase with no identifiable external cause, raising the possibility of a chassis or suspension defect affecting other 2023 Escalade esv vehicles. The front upper control arm on the driver’s side snapped in half, resulting in the complete detachment of the wheel while the vehicle was in motion. The failed component is still in my possession and available for inspection upon request. This failure placed both my life and the lives of others at significant risk. The wheel detached while I was driving, which could have led to a catastrophic crash had it occurred at higher speeds or in heavier traffic. I was extremely fortunate that the failure occurred under conditions that allowed me to bring the vehicle to a stop without injury or collision. A suspension failure of this nature represents a critical safety hazard. The failure has been physically verified by both the service center where the vehicle was taken after the incident and by gm’s assigned third-party inspection service. A visual and mechanical inspection confirmed the fractured upper control arm and resulting suspension failure. A second opinion from an independent mechanic is being pursued as well. The vehicle was inspected by a third-party claims investigator assigned by gm, who reviewed the scene and the damage. I have not received a full report or documentation from gm or the inspector, but I am requesting it formally. The incident was also documented by my insurance provider. The police were not called, as there were no injuries or collision with another vehicle. There were no warning lights, messages, or error codes on the dashboard prior to the incident. I did not observe any unusual handling, noises, or vibrations that would have suggested an impending mechanical failure. The control arm failure occurred suddenly and without warning while driving under normal conditions.
Back in April of 2024 when the truck only had about 16,500 miles on it the engine went out causing steering to become heavy and braking to become very hard. This happened on a highway going about 65-70mph. The should was very narrow causing the truck to kind of protrude into the roadway, almost got hit by several cars, trucks with trailer going by. Called the on star folks and they were very poor to respond quickly, they had the police come, however there was an accident that happened further up and he left to tend to that accident. The engine ended up having to be replaced and that took a very long time. Now I have 22k miles on the truck and have had nothing but constant issues with the air ride suspension. I have taken it to two separate Cadillac dealerships and neither fixed the issue, they said they fixed the issue but I keep having the issue. Now, what the truck is doing is basically and randomly going from over inflation to under inflation. When it over inflates the truck feels too heavy and like it wants to topple on the highway…so I have to slow way down. When the truck under inflates the ride becomes unbearably rough. This all happens randomly with no input from me while driving, a message simply pops up on the screen saying service leveling system vehicle either too high or too low. I now have taken the truck to a Chevrolet dealership to see if they can’t resolve the issue.
