On 5/15/25 at approx. 11am the vehicle was seen with smoke rolling out of the doors and windows, which were all closed. The vehicle had been parked since approx. 8am that day. Once the fd had the fire knocked down, they found that a seat belt retractor module, replaced in 1/2025, was most likely the cause for the fire and damage. The locking mechinisms were metled and unable to open either the driver door (where the fire had occured) or the front passenger door. The fd was only able to gain initial access to the vehicle by breaking out the driver window and the back passenger window. There were no warning signs of this happening. The vehicle is currently sitting with an auto body shop for an estimate of damage. Had the driver been in the seat they could have received severe burns, smoke inhalation or worse with the doors unable to open.

The driver seat belt cable ripped apart when attempting to unbuckle it. It is a safety hazard to drive this vehicle . It was inspected by frank fontanez(crash technician)about 3 weeks ago, at that time several pictures was taken and he instructed me to fill out this report. The vehicle was not inspected by any other agencies, god put mr fontanez in my path because this is my only transportation method and I need immediately attention thanks.

I have been waiting on the dealers to fix this recall for now 2 months and no solution has been found. I need to list my vehicle on turo website and need this recall to be cleared.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs as the recall notice was received. The local dealer was notified of the recall notice and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. Hello, I own two 2021 Cadillac Escalades that I brought into my local Cadillac dealership to get the recent "third row seatbelt retention" remedied. They both return with no repairs needed after a thorough inspection was completed. May I ask how long does it take for my vehicles to be cleared/remedied on the website? my dealership has already sent in the paperwork to NHTSA to get it evaluated. All three seatbelts in the third row don't lock. I just got this car with only 100k miles on it and when installing my kids' car seats I found that none of them have the needed safety feature. They don't lock when pulled quickly or when pulled all the way out. Cadillac won't cover the repair.

Drivers side seat belt locked up and a burning smell emitted from the drivers side seat belt post. No accident occured and no warning as to why it happened. Chevrolet dealer said nothing apparently caused it. It just locked up. Vehicle was stationary.

Headlights and ballets been replaced 3times. . They comes on only when not driving then I start driving then all the lights start flickering. Seatbelt in rear was repaired twice but wont retract after unbuckleing.

During the crash, the air bags deployed, but did not inflate. In addition, the front and rear seat belts malfunctioned and did not secure the passengers. The driver sustained a left leg laceration and left shoulder injury. The front passenger sustained injuries to the chest and right knee and the rear passenger sustained five fractured vertebrae. Airbag light is on and dealer stated it has something to do with the seat belt (diver side) also the Cadillac Escalade from the past and present years have a airbag and seatbelt issue and I believe my vehicle has the same issue. Takara recall: in 2015 my Cadillac Escalade was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which the airbag deployed and exploded with a bunch of smoke and awful smell in the air and some debris. The vehicle was in motion in hit a midsize Honda accord head on. I was traveling straight on a city street. I was faulted since I was reaching for my gps navigation device that had fallen on the floor. The cause for the malfunction to me is unknown. I was definitely injured in the accident but I only had liability insurance at the time and it only covered the other party since I was faulted. While driving south on powers blvd and crossing the briargate intersection in colorado springs, colorado on may 2, 2015, Honda civic vehicle ran red light traveling west around 32 to 33 mph (hit gas instead of brake). And impacted 2005 Cadillac Escalade ext on drivers side. Component parts in question are front drivers seat belt and passenger front seat belt. Driver supposively reported to onstar that drivers seatbelt had disengaged sometime during impact. Police report states Cadillac came to stop 219 feet from impact. Onstar call only available if subpoena is requested. Injuries to passenger was side whiplash, back injury, and road rash to knees, bruising and sores as a result of knees impacting glove box in front of passenger. Initial injuries to driver was concussion, closed head injury, whiplash, left rib contusions, bruising and sores. Both occupants in Cadillac were transported to er. Pictures taken of vehicle once located 3 days later illustrate drivers seatbelt in normal position and passenger seatbelt in pulled down position. Pictures available upon request. The contact owns a 2002 Cadillac Escalade. While driving approximately 20 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. The front driver side shoulder seat belt retractor failed to function and the webbing would not release properly. As a result, the driver struck the steering wheel with force. The contact suffered from back and shoulder injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle sustained minor rear end damage and was driven from the scene. A police report was not filed. As a result of the accident the seat belts fractured and unlatched independently. The security warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to be taken to the dealer and repaired. This is the email I sent to Cadillac a few months ago. The seat belt has since been replaced but the danger still exist. My son is lucky to be alive after the seat belt failed to release; nearly resulting in what could have been a fatal strangulation. Here is the email: I am contacting Cadillac to report a problem I've experienced with your seatbelts. I have an 05 Escalade esv and my son was in the backseat sleeping and somehow managed to get the seatbelt wrapped around his neck. I turned the vehicle off with hopes that it would loosen up so I could get it off but it only became tighter the more I worked to get it off. At the point where he was having a hard time breathing and started turning purple I had my husband obtain scissors and we had to cut it off. My sons neck is now cut and bruised from the seatbelt. Is this how all the seatbelts in your cars work (doesn't loosen up even after the car is off) had I not been able to get scissors to free him this may not have had the same outcome. The dealer that replaced the seat belt until said it was "completely locked and agreed that if we hadn't cut it there was no other way to release it. I also have photos of my sons neck days after the incident. I would have reported this sooner but didn't know where to report it to until I was informed of this website.
