Power Steering Fluid problems of the 2006 Cadillac SRX

The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel made a winding noise and the check engine light illuminated. Also, the contact noticed fluid on the ground. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the rack and pinion was leaking fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 149,000.

Power steering fluid leaked out from steering rack. Independent mechanic replaced for $950 dollars. One year later rack replaced again under mechanics warranty. Power steering pump failed because in was run while low on fluid due to steering rack leak for $450 dollars should have been covered under warrenty.

Power steering fluid leak on driveway. We knew what it was because our other Srx had been having the same problem. Took into GMC service 3 or 4 times to have seals replaced. Both of our 2006 Srx's have the same problem. We keep steering fluid in our house just in case we need it.

High pitched noise when car was started then whining noise. Took car to jeff schmitt Cadillac said power steering fluid was low. Said no leaks fluid found on driveway. Took car in to reichard GMC three times to have seals replaced because of leaking power steering fluid.
