I am not a mechanic so I don’t know what all I know is what I like I experienced and when I was driving down the road, my Cadillac shut off like it had no power to it no power steering no lights no dash lights no warning lights or nothing pulled over my car will not start back up I had to have it towed when I got home and looked inside the casing around. The battery had melted with a bunch of wires and tubing that was on top of the battery completely melted everything inside.
Engine locked up. Checked by 2 separate mechanic shops.
The oil burned down from 6 quarts to 1. 25 quarts with no leaks and no detection or warning and the engine seized. Needs a new engine, automobile turned off on the road.
Hello, I wanted to let you all know that I have a 2010 Cadillac Srx, to which in the past these type of vehicles had had a transmissions issues, thus recalled. . . Well the vehicle I own, is doing and having the same transmission problem/issues. . . And yet it is not under the recall list. . . The Cadillac dealership, has my car and is wanting to open up the transmission and inspect it for almost 2 thousand dollars( I like on a dissability montly income) . . I had this same car diagnosed at 2 different auto shops , whom provided me with the folllowing 2 error codes p076 and p0700, which are the transmision control solenoid and the transmission control module. . . But back at the Cadillac service dealership , here in amarillo TX. . . They want almos $6000 for a new transmission replacement or half of that for rebuilding the current one. . . When I strongly believe that my car is part of the same recall , being the same model and same similiar transmission issues.
The car makes a knocking noise from the engine and in order to drive, you have to hold in the traction control button. I was told that the connecting rod broke and has to be repaired & I believe that should be a recall with the engine.
Service rear axle message is displayed on the driver information center. The code indicates awd has been turned off which can put my safety and or safety of others at risk. Service bulletin (pi0703b) was issued for numerous 2010 Cadillac Srx, unfortunately the recall wasn't issued for my vehicle (VIN). The service bulletin was for dtc c0407 with symptom code 64, the exact same code that was found with my vehicle.

The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
Car doesn't want to start right away. Almost like it isn't getting gas right away. Have to push gas pedal to get it to "rev" up. Will idle funny when at stops.
I just bought this vehicle two days ago and now realized it loses power while driving (in-motion) and then jumps as if it wants to cut off. At the time, I was driving on a city street and as I tried to accelerate, the problem occurred. This is very dangerous and scary because it can cause a crash or cause other cars to rear-end it. Also, it says airbag needs servicing.
The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently downshift without warning. After a few minutes, the contact would be able to resume normal driving upon restart. The contact called a dealer about the failure and was informed that unless a warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel, they could not diagnose the failure. Recently, the contact stated that while driving out of a parking lot, the vehicle would not shift out of first gear with the check engine warning light illuminated. After, calling her husband for assistance, her husband was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. While driving 55 mph, the engine decelerated and the vehicle stopped without warning. The vehicle was able to restarted and the check engine and stabilitrak indicators illuminated. Tl the contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. While the vehicle was stationary at a traffic light, it hesitated to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to ken batchelor Cadillac (11001 I-10, san antonio, TX 78230, (210) 690-0700) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced a second time. The contact mentioned that the timing chain was previously replaced at 99,000 miles. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to submit a complaint. The failure mileage was 170,000.
Timing chain!!!! only had this truck under 2 years 2010 Cadillac Srx I go to the mechanic shop he tells me it's a crank shaft sensor he fixes it engine light still on he does some more checking then boom!!! it's the timing chain when big things like this go wrong it should definitely not be out of the purchasers pocket it should be out of the manufacturers pocket this is ridiculous especially when your still paying on the vehicle I'll never in my life own a Cadillac again or anything made by this company.
About a year or so ago while exiting off the highway my car started losing powered and while foot on gas pedal, gas pedal stopped working and merged to the side of the road before shutting off completely, called tow truck and ever since my car loses power when driving put the car in shop and they say it's the time chain/ time change gazer!.
Purchased 11/16 with 62k miles, 12/16 replaced high pressure steering line, 5/18 replaced all timing chains, 1/19 replaced steering cooler. 2-weeks later lower end rod knock-connecting rod bearing(s) bad. No warning, no sounds and the oil was changed same time as steering cooler replaced. No notice of shavings in oil. Oil has been changed every 3-5000 miles. All service performed at Cadillac dealership. $8999 to replace engine. Kbb car trade in value $7300, now $1000 from dealership. At 60 I've owned a lot of automobiles, several Cadillac's among them and take excellent care of them. I have a pickup with 243k just to show how well I take care of them. This out of the blue blown connecting rod bearings is highly suspect. Especially just having had the dealer perform an oil change. If the bearings were going bad there would have been shavings in the oil, and would have been obvious. Side note. When I checked the codes before being towed to the dealership it had a p0017 crankshaft sensor. Same code when I had to replace the timing chains.
Two incidents that endangered my life as well as others. Vehicle with 26,000 miles driving on interstate at 65 to 70 mph all of a sudden vehicle stops computer says engine power reduced traffic behind was lucky able to avoid hitting me. Second incident last week on interstate traffic all stopped due to construction I have little to no brakes fortunately I was able to swerve off to my right situation very very dangerous.
My service light came on and the dealer said its code is poo17. The informed me their might be a recall so I am checking to see he said Cadillac did have one for 2004-2009.
The vehicle switches to stabilitrac and abs at the same time causing the engine to not shift into the next gear. This causes the transmission to be over ram and I have to stop the vehicle completely and put it into sport mode and manually shift the gears in order for it to shift gears. The vehicle is in motion at the time of transmission not shifting correctly into the next rpm.
Rakata recall. I was driving on interstate. Car shifted down and would not shift to higher gear for speed traveling causing 8000 rpm that resulted in engine blow. Smoke everywhere. Car was towed. I need a new engine due to transmission shifting down plus whatever happened with transmission.
The timing chain loosens and causes the engine to fail. Average cost of this repair is $2,100 at 88,000 miles. This is a known issue for this engine and previous years were recalled for the same issue.
Addendum to complaint number 11691294.
Front suspension required replacement due to excessive wear on the control arms. Code p0017 generated by computer indicating need to replace timing chain. Vehicle currently at 90,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. While driving various speeds, the timing chain failed and detached from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle began to jerk back and forth from the rear when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the "service rear axle" warning indicator illuminated. Ryan Chevrolet, located at 1800 south broadway, minot, north dakota 58701, diagnosed that the rear axle and the timing chain needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 87,100.
The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle shook severely. The dealer diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
I was in a minor collision. Ran into the back of someone. My airbags didn't deploy and my engine immediately caught on fire and in a few minutes my whole care was on fire and destroyed. There was no known reason how or why the fire started.
The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Service engine lite on, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor.
When I turn the car off the fan will continue to run. I have to either undo the battery or take the fan fuse out. I took it in and no one can tell me why it will not turn off when the car is off.
In January, while my wife was driving the car with children in it, the engine suddenly stopped. Luckily, the car behind also stopped and helped her push the car to the side. After a few tries, the engine started again. This happened twice before the car was sent to the dealer for repair. They said transmission was the problem and has been fixed. Last Sunday, while I was driving on a freeway at 65 mph, the engine suddenly stopped again. I had a hard time steering the wheel but was fortunate enough to cross lanes and come to a stop on a freeway. The car is in the dealer for repair but Cadillac just advised that they cannot guarantee whether the car will stop again in the future. The guarantee should come from the dealership not Cadillac and since I own it, I should make a decision to drive it or not. Is this car safe to drive since my son was in such panic when it happened on the freeway ? just so lucky it was early morning with not much traffic.
Headlights keeps burning out. Replaced then 2 times since I've had it. Engine keeps going out. Bought the car for $25,000. And spent over $5000. On the same problem for the timing chain issue, twice. Replaced all centerbearings within 1 1/2 year. Engine light won't go off. Still can't see to drive at night.
My new car was towed a number of 4 times. First time car was only 6 mos old and had 3000 mi on it. Second and third time heritage Cadillac said they were working with engineers from Cadillac to try and repair. 4th time they said couldn't fix and car was not safe to drive, could get stranded in it. May or June 2011. Jan 2012, July 2011, may 2012 failure to start/towed in .
My wife has complained several times over the last year about sudden acceleration by her car. I did not pay much attention until she hit a car in a parking lot because her car jumped forward. No one was in the other car and my wife was not hurt. It happened again about a week ago so I took it to the dealer. They made some software adjustments suggested by general motors including one that read "addressing long hesitation/delays occuring when driver coasts to around 10mph and steps into an aggressive pedel".
