The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning increasing in speed up to 80 mph. The contact was able to slow the vehicle down by applying the brakes when the failure occurred. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who informed the contact they've never heard of any vehicle accelerating. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and could not find a problem with the vehicle. After leaving the dealer the contact notice a recall via the interment regarding the vehicle speed control (06v007000). The VIN was not a part of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs since this was a known safety issue. The failure mileage was 65,000.
