Air bag alert says service air bags this should be covered as many of these bags have been recalled. Second problem: when turning off the ignition, it keeps dinging and says put car in park even though it is in park. This dinging noise lasts maybe 10 seconds to a minute. Sometimes shifting or putting foot on brake again stops the dinging.

A high pitch fire alarm noise intermittent going off inside vehicle sometimes deafening, causing the driver to loose all attention and covering ears from sound. The sound seems to be radiating from the 15. 1 bose sound system. This problem may present itself at different times weather car is stationary or moving at freeway speeds. This problem has been found in other models cts, Sts, srx, and other Cadillac models with this sound system. It seems to be present in model years 2002-2010.

Front passenger door does not always open from the outside while stationary, and/or in park, or whether the engine is running or off. If this car is ever in an accident, emergency workers would have to take extra steps, and valuable time, to try to successfully extract any victim from the passenger side. I see it has been reported before!.
Check engine light on vehicle start shutting down while vehicle was in motion on a PA interstate and on a city street this has happened on serval occasion , then the park to shift lights comes on and the vehicle at that time is unable to shut off. At lease three time this year 2016 (Apr#7th oct 26th and Nov 3rd each time the vehicle had to be towed, approx six time since I purchased the vehicle in Nov 2011.
Air bag sensors going bad or corroded. Shouldn't they last the life of the vehicle?.
Purchased 2006 Cadillac Sts built on June 21 2005 last day of 2005 model. Car has had all the issues that 22005 vehicle had. June 23rd 2005 was first day of production. At every corner VIN # are noted however for this model the build days which noted by Cadillac are the important factors. I don't think coincidence that I've been companling to Cadillacand asking for help with zero help. Catalytic converter was extended warrantee for 200000 and 12 years however Cadillac always says VIN even though dates are the only thing noted. I have called and e,ail for 3 years. My car is off road and they have refused to look and even if I paid they wouldn't guarantee they would even look at the issues. My car is in absolute limbo neither a 2006 or 05 or whatever. They have refused every step even though it was based on recalls.
Hello, I purchased a 2006 Sts v8 last January. Since then I have had to replace all four tires immediately, a starter, and the brakes and then replace front brake pads again. I recently went to auto shop and was told catalytic converter and suspension need to be replaced. after investigation I realized there was recalls on the 2005 Sts v8 model for the brakes, suspension and the catalytic converter has an extended warranty of 12 years and 200000 miles. the fact is that further investigation showed my car was built in 2005 and the actual manufacture date on vehical was 6/20/2005 which was last date of production for the 05 model. the 2006 manufacture or build date began on 6/23/05. it seems odd all the recalls for the 05 model are all the year old vehicle are faced with. I called Cadillac and they said although the build date of vehicle is valid the VIN number is what is followed. however, further research shows they actually found the same recall on the 05 catalytic converter on a 2007 Cadillac. everything points to the fact that the my 2006 model was actually either a late model of a 2005 by the build date of 6/20/05 and or the same parts have been used as the 2005 recall. lastly the VIN number when I pulled up on a site showed it was actually a cts model. I have spent a lot of time and have a great deal of data I could share that would back that my 2006 Sts v8 actually is part of the recall cars. I understand the VIN number is what is looked at but when model year cars are being made and sold as different years than when they are produced and recalls effect the year of actual build this becomes very concerning. as in the past year I will be spending over 3000$ plus dollars to fix this car. I. Hope you can look into. as they wont even investigate or give me the serial numbers for the parts being recalled.
I noticed the gear shifter locked in placed where one can not move the unit from park to drive; I receive the shift to park message on the vic visual information center. I believed there was a recall on the same car in the 2006 Cadillac Sts; the shift to park error message also comes on after driving and unable to turn the unit off (red lights of course) until the battery dies. No recall.

While driving the engine shut down, this happened twice in the same day. My wife now refuses to drive the car and wants to sell it.
The catalytic converter makes loud popping noises on passenger front side. Now is misfiring in cylinder 1 and also has unexpected gained speed without any gas peddle pushed. Gm extended the catalytic converter warranty to 200,000 miles due to converter problems. But my VIN they say isnt included. My car is a v6. My sister was the previous owner she said she never received any recall information. The website shows no open recalls but the work wasn't completed since she purchased in 2007. Gm website doesnt help at all.
My 2005 Cadillac Sts brakes locked up and caused my car to crash. After research I am showing that there was a recall regarding the brake system. In addition, when changing gears you can hear the gears changing from the outside of the car. I researched this as well and apparently there is a defect and recall on the axle. I am not happy about this vehicle that I just purchased for alittle over 7 months. There is also an electrical problem. As I am driving, the hood ajar light comes on and there is no sign of my hood beign ajar. In addition, the transmission seems as thought it is going out as well. Before I consult with an attorney I wanted to first give GMC an opportunity to resolve this issues. My vehicle has less than 100,000 miles. Also, please note that due to the electrical problem, my reverse lights has never worked. The unknown other would be the axle and transmission.
I had the air bag harness replaced on this vehicle 2. 5 years ago on this vehicle. The warning light is illuminated and I'm being told it needs to be replaced again. I purchased the vehicle in 2008. If the first airbag lasted for 5 years from year made 2006 (which is not very long). The one that was replaced in December 2011 should have lasted longer than 2. 5 years. I am very concerned that these are defective parts and I don't want to be killed or maimed by the air bag and I don't want to pay for another one in such a short period. I have had all the tire monitors replacd also and the tire pressure readings are always off. When I take the car in to be checked after paying a fee of course. They say there's nothing wrong with them and they just put air in the tires. Thanking you in advance for your help in this matter.
This vehicle has pumped through 5-7 quarts of oil appx every 500 miles. I know that this is not normal. Car was overhauled, the trans was basically rebuilt, with new components. Problem with oil evaporating at very low mileage still an issue. ** leaks*** or symptoms aside of diminishing oil every said set of miles. Very frustrating issue that hasnt been resolved.
Driving on I-75 from orlando on a clear sunny afternoon when I hear the sunroof start to rattle. I began to slow down when I heard a loud noise coming from the sunroof. I pull the inside cover back only to find a hole in the roof of the car where the sunroof used to be. We called the local Cadillac dealership that following Tuesday. We were told to take the car to the collision center that Saturday only to find the collision center was technically closed but there was a person in there working who came out to the car and took pictures. Then we were told to take the car to the dealership only to find out from them that only the manager from the collision center could approve repair or financial assistance for repair. Well, after getting no help from the collision center or the dealership we contacted the corporate office for assistance/direction. They initially seemed helpful by contacting the dealership on my behalf and having the to manager to contact us. Today is may 20th and the manager has not contacted us yet. We stopped by the dealership today (after calling first to no avail) only to find the manager will be out of the office for the next two weeks and someone else will be contacting us. This has been a very frustrating ordeal! they (the dealership/collision center) don't have a reason as to why this could have happened and are avoiding us instead of providing the customer service they should.
The vehicle caught fire without cause at a walmart parking lot. When I came out of the store my car was on fire. The fire started in the door panel of the drivers side. I have no idea what caused the fire. Sterling heights fire dept was on the seen and put the fire out. My car was totaled.
My tire blew out while driving. The tire is a vogue tire dot pj1pz1ark 2905 the service person told me to fill a complaint as the tire was dry rotted and I actually had to replace two tires at a cost of $285 per tire because he told me the other tire was also dry rotting. (I had already replaced two tires previously to this incident) the tires still had plenty of tread and I drive the car daily so there should be no reason they were dry rotting.
The fuel delivery system has been failing in the same manner that I have seen many other Cadillac owners have gotten repaired through a recall already in place. Every single time I put gas in the tank the car refuses to turn on with the first attempt. The only way to get the car to turn on is after multiple attempts and finally enough fuel gets delivered to the system. Similarly, the car will hesitate or feel like no gas is being delivered to the engine while driving on the highway. Often, it will cause a dramatic drop in speed causing a dangerous situation. Gm definitely needs to take this into consideration because it is faults equipment rather than wear and tear. Also, there seems to be a some major issue with the oil system in the car. One week after a synthetic oil change, there is over 1 quart of oil missing in the reserve. There has been over 4 quarts missing at a time.
The rear pinion seal on my car has failed a long time ago. It is oddly strange how the 2005-2007 Cadillac builds have this problem, yet, somehow my VIN isn't included in the safety recall. This appears to be a wider problem than the bulletin covers. This really needs to be addressed as someone is going to be driving one day and their car is going to stop abruptly and cause a major accident. This is a major problem!.
Our Sts stalled several times, but the scariest was on the highway going 65 mph. The car totally shut off, leaving the car without any power. We were able to guide the car to the side of the highway and thank goodness it started again. On several other occasions, the car would shut off and sometimes wouldn't even start up right away. This was very frustrating and the unknowing, made driving this car very unpredictable. Every time we brought the car to be checked they could not find "anything". Finally, an independent mechanic suggested putting in a new starter and this solved the problem. Thank goodness. The seville Sts is now running, but the a/c has gone out. The car is too old to even fix at this point.

After spending 38 minutes writing about problems with my auto your defective program erased all my narrative. I suggest you hire one of the several thousand capable people who would like to work to replace the incompetent bungler who created this abomination.
On sept 17, 2009 as I rolled to a stop in a parking lot, I applied the brake and the car, which was four feet from a brick building, suddenly lurched ahead. The car hit the brick wall, and the engine did not return to idle until I took my foot off
the brake pedal. What had happened is this: the floor mat which has no restraints, had crept up causing a lower foldover, and pushed up sufficiently to
cause a foldover of the upper part of the mat . This created a three layer thickness of the floor mat entrapped between the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal. My correction of this failure has been to store the floor mats in the trunk ii. E. , not use them. The manufacturer's remedy has been to issue replacement mats, but they also have no restraints and are identical in form, texture, and pliability as the original mats. All other remedies have been denied by the manufacturer and the manufacturer's selling agent (dealer). Incidentally, the floor mats for this car (Cadillac Sts) are identical in form, texture, and pliability as those in the Cadillac dts. The dts has oem restraints, the Sts has none. I believe the Sts is the only car in the 2009/2010 gm stable that lacks restraints. My request to install restraints by gm and/or the gm selling again has been denied by gm and gm selling agent. . With the exception of the foregoing, all of the various communications with gm and gm selling agent(s) has been unproductive. I believe an advisory of this floor mat issue needs to accompany the sale of this particular car model.

My Cadillac Sts makes a farting noise at times. Cadillac cannot tell me what is causing this noise.
I purchased 2005 Cadillac Sts July 2006 and was told that I could add a gm navigation later however now I am finding out that that is not possible. I am told by Cadillac customer service as well as dealership personnel that if the car doesn't come from the factory with navigation,it can't be added. I'm extremely disappointed at learning this information after the fact.
Car has zero traction in snow and is very dangerous to drive.
