Failure Date: 09/10/2015

This complaint pertains to gm recall #14405-2. Also listed under the national highway traffic safety administration campaign id number of 14v542. Here is my issue: when a manufacturer, in this case Cadillac, issues a recall that is an inconvenience to their customers, why doesn't the government require them to give a loaner car and/or additional compensation to the vehicle owner to cover the cost and hassle of taking off work and getting a rental car to use? I asked the dealership, the Cadillac customer service line representative, ahmed, and the Cadillac customer service supervisor, michelle for a loaner car and the request was denied. I think that as part of the cost of recalls the manufacturer should limit the customer's inconvenience to an absolute minimum. Please consider requiring manufacturers to provide a loaner car when a recall is issued in the future. This is not a "free" repair if I have to take time off of work and pay for a rental car. Also the need for this repair has been determined by the government and/or the manufacturer's lawyers so that further cost and lawsuits will not be incurred. You would think that the manufacturer would want to limit delays in getting repairs done due to additional costs and inconvenience to the owner of the vehicle.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

The catalytic converter makes loud popping noises on passenger front side. Now is misfiring in cylinder 1 and also has unexpected gained speed without any gas peddle pushed. Gm extended the catalytic converter warranty to 200,000 miles due to converter problems. But my VIN they say isnt included. My car is a v6. My sister was the previous owner she said she never received any recall information. The website shows no open recalls but the work wasn't completed since she purchased in 2007. Gm website doesnt help at all.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 06/03/2014

This vehicle has pumped through 5-7 quarts of oil appx every 500 miles. I know that this is not normal. Car was overhauled, the trans was basically rebuilt, with new components. Problem with oil evaporating at very low mileage still an issue. ** leaks*** or symptoms aside of diminishing oil every said set of miles. Very frustrating issue that hasnt been resolved.

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 01/28/2014

Air bag light constantly stays on, along with the check engine light. Seat belt chime constantly rings with the seat belt connected. Gas low notification light does not come on until on empty. No heated seats. I think the ecm needs to be reset. Sun roof goes up but not slides open. Passenger side door won't open. Automatic car starter doesn't work. 2 years ago, my son in law, started this car in below zero temp and it started on fire. He put it out and restarted it and it was ok. Something makes noise occasionally for no apparent reason.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 03/30/2013

The engine shut off when I was driving on a side street at 20 mph, and also shut off 5 times as I was driving on the highway at 65 mph. The cluster panel turned off, but the radio stayed on. The odometer showed a message engine control module (ecm). I pulled over, put the car in park, and restarted the vehicle each time. The Cadillac dealership said that rear axle pinion seal was the only recall for my Sts, but I am experiencing NHTSA campaign number: 06v020000 , and NHTSA campaign number: 06v007000 also.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 02/25/2013

Car stalled on busy street and would not restart. After later investigation it turns out that the electrical connector in fuel module assembly shorted out and melted the plastic connector. It also melted part of the bottom side of the top of module. Gm has recalled earlier models of vehicles for the same situation. I believe this to be very dangerous for multiple reasons:stalling on busy street and not being able to restart, fuel leaks due to hole melting in module top, and its a fire hazrard.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 02/09/2011

I purchased this car in January of 2010 from apple Chevrolet Cadillac located in york PA. When I purchased this car I bought it used however it still had the remaining manufactures powertrain warranty. It had 51,554 miles on it at the time of purchase. On Feb 9, 2011 I reported to heritage Cadillac in belair MD. That I had an issue with the check engine light coming on and that I want to have that take care of before the warranty ran out. When I took the car there I was told that since the light had went out before I got there, there was no way they could tell what was wrong which I found out to be false because months later they were in fact able to check it with the check engine light being off. To make a long story short, since the first incident I have take my car back to heritage Cadillac 10 times for the same problem and I have paid them $4,212. 08 (to maintain and allegedly repair the problem of the check engine light) today is November 15, 2012 and the light is still on. I have been told that they don't really know what is wrong and that they had to contact a Cadillac manufacture to get information but I will have to pay another $3,100 to fix the problem which may be fuel injectors and a transmission control module. I feel that my wife and I have been and are being take advantage of in this situation by a certified Cadillac service center. This problem should have been resolved when I first brought it to their attention when the car was still under warranty.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

Catalytic converter failed at approximately 83,000 miles. Check engine light comes on and the manufacturer and the dealer replaced the converter. At 93,000 miles, received check engine light warning again and the code indicates that the catalytic converter is a problem. The side affect is that the car lacks power when having a need accelerate. Gm has recalled the 2005 converter, but not the 2006.
