Power Train Problems of Cadillac STS

It just started making a loud knocking noise, and it dosent go no faster than 40mph.

Without warning my transmission stopped working . I can move the greer with out it collecting any greer . No engine check light nothing . I pulled the parking lot and had to be pushed out street .

Recall. I am an active duty sailor and missing several notices of the intial recall. . . . . Engine reduction of power in the middle of the interstate. . . Premature timing chain wear reprogram engine control module. . . While driving the car completely lost power and would not go over 15mph. . . . This happened on a busy I-10 interstate. . . Is there away to reopen this recall.

Just bought the vehicle used and I hear a noise coming from the rear back of the car. The key fob wasn't working correctly and drained the battery and I had to buy a new battery. I really don't know what wrong with the vehicle but its driveable for now besides the slight banging noise. It need to be checked for recalls.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine had 8 misfires and the icm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. This problem started over a year ago and I have had it to the dealer twice and they can no find the problem because there are no codes in the car. While driving the car it shuts down and you lose everthing lights, turn singles, hazards,the dash goes totaly out and the engine stops the best you can do it to pull it over to the side of the road and hope you don't get hit. I have had this happen it town driving and on the highway so it has nothing to do with speed. I have loaned my car to other people and it has happened to them so it is not the driver. I will happen and you pull over put the car in park and it starts right up and you can continue driving and it may happen a mile up the road or it may not happen for a week or a month later and still no codes.

In cold weather car will not take off from the start and the motor bogs down and will not move in traffic for a couple of minutes creating a hazard to driver and on coming traffic abs light comes on, stability light comes on if you restart the car all the errors go away but still stored on computer memory.

In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000. Ss.

The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that upon inspection, it was found that the rear axle was leaking. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 07v589000 (power train). The failure mileage and VIN was not available.

The above vehicle was recently in a shop for brake pad replacement when my mechanic discovered that there was a leak of lubricant in the rear end of the automobile. Upon further inspection he discovered that the rear axle pinion seal was leaking. The automobile has just 60,000 miles. After checking the NHTSA he found that a recall, gm recall number 07204 had been issued for this very problem. However, when I presented the vehicle for repair this morning at marion Chevrolet Cadillac they refused to cover the problem under the recall stating the VIN does not meet the recall range. I find it untenable that gm could recall nearly 300,000 vehicles for this very issue but refuse to cover an identical problem in a vehicle that does not meet the VIN range set by gm.

Own a 2008sts v --on making a right turn from a stop,the car lost power with no error messages,and full electrical power. Would surge to about 3 mph--got to a spot where I could turn car off. Stareted it up and the car was fine. Dealer unable to diagnose probelm. Feel its unsafe to drive and am pushing the dealer to contact gm engineering and find out what could cause that.
