Seats Problems of Cadillac STS

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that when an occupant was seated in the front passenger seat, the passenger side air bag sensor did not illuminate. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same symptom as listed in NHTSA campaign number: 10v644000 (air bags). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the passenger seat switch module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but was not able to assist. The failure mileage was 169,000.

When I move the driver's seat the "airbag" symbol appears on the dashboard. If I move the seat back and forth , after a few tries, the "airbag" symbol disappears. I was not able to look under the seat, but I have seen a video where somebody had the exact same problem but found burnt wires under the seat. I am wondering if there is a fire hazard. This happened when the car is stationary.

After leaving restaurant got into car and adjusted driver seat, proceeded to exit,approached stop light, then heard faint popping sound then smelled odor and saw smoke. Immediately pulled into adjacent restaurant across street,exited vehicle and car was on fire. An employee at restaurant advised to move away from car fearing an explosion. Immediately called 911 and was dispatched to local fire dept.

I replace my airbag sensor in the passenger seat, this is a $600 part. On year later this part needs to be replaced again. When reading the gm Cadillac forum this has been a problem for Cadillac for sometime. Failure of this part can result in the airbag not deploying in an accident.

The passenger side air bag sensor stopped working. A warning light on the dash came on. Nothing happened to make it stop working, it is just a faulty part. The Cadillac dealer gave me a estimate stating that the "module" needs to be replaced. However, they did not offer to do so under warranty. I think this should be a recalled item since I see a long list of this same complaint on this same model and some other Cadillac models.

At approximately 72,000 miles my Cadillac's passenger seat light began to act up and would go on and off when someone would sit in the front passenger seat. I am single and rarely ever have a passenger in the front seat. Approximately two times per month someone rides in this seat. The last time someone sat in the front passenger seat, I traveled 10 miles round trip on 1/19/2012, the "service air bag" and air bag red light indicator came on the dash and since then will not go off. I take extraordinary care of my vehicle. I took it to a dealer only to be told that the entire passenger presence system (pps) needs to be replaced and that it was going to cost me $629. 00. I understand that the same problem occurred in the Cadillac cts model of the same year. My question and complaint are: did the modules come from the same place and/or are they the same module and passenger presence system. Why wouldn't my Cadillac Sts be included in that recall when I see that this has happened to so many other Cadillac Sts models of the same year.

I got up one morning to do to my fathers house . While I was driving , I heard a popping sound coming from the passenger seat. I thought maybe it was something in my door pocket bouncing around. I continued driving but a few minutes later ,I saw smoke coming from under the passenger seat.

I have rust in my car and under the bottom. Cadillac states this is normal and they cannot do anything until there is a hole in the vehicle. They rely on the dealers feedback. The district manager in the area is of no use. The dealer over rides his decisions. What does GMC paid this fellow for?.

Seat bezels on right side broke 5 times on left side 1 time these hold the controls for the seats when they break lose the wires rub on the stamp metal frame of the seat witch could short them causing a fire. They do not how to fix the problem they just replace with the same part. .
