The vehicle intermittently loses engine/ electrical power while driving. When the power loss occurs, brakes and steering lose proper functionality creating a threat to the driver and passengers as well as other motorists. The vehicle then is unresponsive to the proper starting procedure. Restarting the vehicle is inconsistent. It may start immediately upon command or it may cause a theft procedure to initiate. The vehicles dic will possibly show the following prompts just before the shutdown failure occurs; service vehicle soon, service stability system soon, service a/c system soon. During the shutdown failure, no electrical components are operable but power is still available to the car allowing the dic to prompt 'no fob detected' or 'theft attempted' and the fob will intermittently allow you to send lock/ unlock commands during the shutdown failure. The failure happens in any scenario and is intermittent in the aspect of no failure occurs for a week or 5 failures occur in a day. I cannot determine when the failures began happening considering I purchased the vehicle used with 155000 miles and the failures have been happening since day 3 of my ownership. The vehicle is currently at a midland michigan Cadillac dealership being diagnosed.

Vehicle detects fault and displays message to service stability control system. Specific problem not yet diagnosed. Within a few moments, the display states that engine power is reduced. This causes a very unsafe condition as the vehicle slows to 10-15 mph. Pressing gas pedal causes transmission to downshift to lower gear slowing vehicle further. Cannot safely maneuver in traffic, brakes require much higher pedal pressure due to low vacuum boost after engine power reduced. Insufficient warning that this is happening. Problem is not with engine or powertrain, but engine power is cut (engine runs very rough as a result) in response to detected stability system error. Engine runs fine if turned off and restarted. No overheating, oil level is fine, gasoline is good, no external problems. After restarting car drives fine initially, event recurs within 1 mile. Very difficult to try to justify this kind of intentional vehicle control behavior. Extremely poor design that causes an unsafe condition when a stability system error is detected.

We own a 2011 Cadillac Sts. Recently my wife was leaving for work and all of a sudden I felt the house shake. My wife was reversing out of the driveway when she applied the brakes. The pedal was so hard she could not press the pedal down. To avoid a crash she put the car into drive to keep it from going into the street. Once she was able to keep the vehicle out of the street she put the car in neutral, but the brakes were still not responding. Thats when our home became our car stopper. I drove the car afterwards and the brake pedal was still hard and would not hold the car from moving when it was put into gear. I contacted the local dealership who informed me that it would take at least 3 to 4 hours labor to diagnose the problem. That at $149. 99 per hour. He also informed me that they had a vehicle in earlier saying the same thing and they pretty much replaced all of the braking system on the car at the cost of over $3900. 00. That is crazy to me so I went through the car myself. I replaced all brakes and rotors, replaced the brake fluid and bleed the whole brake system. All that for the next day the same thing happened. I have since traced the electrical side and have found that the vacuum brake assist fuse under the hood was blown. I have replaced the fuse but as soon as you hit the brake it blows the fuse again.

On June 9, 2016 I was driving on a wet road so when I tried to stop it took an extreme amount of distance to get the car to stop. I figured the brakes got a little wet causing the probable. The next day my wife was driving the car. Traffic stopped ahead of her stopped so she tried to stop. With both legs pushing on the brake pedals the car would not stop. She was almost killed since she had to hit the car in front of her. The car only has 57000 miles on it so figured the car had a lot of life in it. Not anymore. The dealer (ed morse in tampa) has made a preliminary inspection and looks like the car is totaled. This all happed on a 45 mph road with lots of room to move about but not at a red light. I guess I need to look for something other than Cadillac for quality as much as I liked the car.
El carro se bloquea tanto en direccion como en velocidades. Pareciera ser que pierde brake fluid and gasoline.

While driving on the expressway( at night), going 70mph, the car completely shut down without warning. I lost all power, brakes, steering, lights. On dash message stated "accessory active" and then "shift to park. " took the car to the dealer and they changed the throttle body and cam/crank shaft along with a couple other small things. Got the car back, and 1 week later, the problem began again but worse. It would do it repeatedly, at all different speeds. A couple of times right in the middle of an intersection! took the car back to the dealer again and this time they changed the body control module. Got the car back and about a week later, the problem has returned!.
My 2005 Cadillac Sts brakes locked up and caused my car to crash. After research I am showing that there was a recall regarding the brake system. In addition, when changing gears you can hear the gears changing from the outside of the car. I researched this as well and apparently there is a defect and recall on the axle. I am not happy about this vehicle that I just purchased for alittle over 7 months. There is also an electrical problem. As I am driving, the hood ajar light comes on and there is no sign of my hood beign ajar. In addition, the transmission seems as thought it is going out as well. Before I consult with an attorney I wanted to first give GMC an opportunity to resolve this issues. My vehicle has less than 100,000 miles. Also, please note that due to the electrical problem, my reverse lights has never worked. The unknown other would be the axle and transmission.
4/14 - car was shutting off intermittently, pulled over in hotel parking lot and a gentlemen came up to car to tell me that it was smoking, got out and there was a fire at the rear of the car. Ran into hotel and got fire extinguisher to put it out, had towed to repair shop. There determined that the terminal on the top of the fuel pump over heated and melted a hole in the top of the pump, causing fuel to leak out and catch fire -$6000 worth of damage, only used parts available to fix car. 8/14 recall was released about fuel module and harness. 6/15 - called dealer about unrelated issue (door lock), VIN# was ran and was told parts were available to fix recall. I mentioned I did not receive the letter that parts were available and was told dealer had to order them, 4 days later parts came in and work was scheduled. Car was there for 10 days "having trouble getting parts". When car was picked up the fuel gauge was now off only reading 3/4 when full and check engine light on. Told harness is not available to finish recall and it will take care of both problems. This safety recall is beyond a reasonable amount of time for repair. The dealer should not have torn into car if all parts were not available. Car is due for inspection 9/15 and as it currently stands it will not pass inspection due to the check engine light being on and now the gas gauge does not read at all. This has been a huge inconvenience and am very displeased with the lack of support from Cadillac and the dealership. I now have a vehicle that I can not get parts to fix recall, will not pass inspection, and I can not sell it or trade it in.
My wife went to the local gas station and as she was pulling in she made a right hand turn past the pumps to park. She hit the brakes and the car sped up. She slammed them harder and it slightly slowed down but she hit 2 guard rails and then crashed into the cinderblock wall destroying the front bumper, both front fenders, headlights and the internal aluminum bumper was crushed as it was designed to do. The air bags did not go off but she was not hurt. She said the car sped up while the brakes were deployed. Also, after she hit the wall she tried to put the card in reverse but she had to put it in neutral to actually go in reverse. The car is at the mechanic being fixed at this time but I am concerned about this speeding up instead of stopping when the brakes are applied. . . This is not a good thing and the insurance company said it was up to me to find the cause. Someone from Cadillac or NHTSA needs to come and look at this before the car is fixed.

Vehicle was idling in driveway during strong electrical storm. Lightning appeared to hit a tree nearby. Simultaneously, several dash warning lights came on and stayed on, including anti-lock brake, traction and stability control warnings. Call was made to insurance company and vehicle towed to Cadillac dealership. Service department said cause of the warning light was a bolt near wire to anti-lock brake power control module had worn insulation off, causing failure of power control module. If indeed lightning/power surge did not cause this problem, improperly located bolt or design would seem to be defective.

When I backed out of my carport and applied my brakes it wouldn't stop. I took it to the dealership and they couldn't make the car do it again. The brakes when I back up still does not stop my car intermittently, until I step on brakes 3 or 4 times. This is frightening. The dealership wouldn't even take a look at my brakes.

Also have a bad vibration in the front of my car while driving at 65mph or over. I have replaced all tires, rotors, brakes, yet it still happens while driving at or above 65mph.
