Service Brakes Problems of Cadillac XTS

My back brakes have locked up on me while going 65 miles a hour. It was smoking bad when I had to get back home.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac Xts. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, however the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated he slowly drove the vehicle to his residence, which was about five streets away. The contact exited the vehicle and performed an inspection of the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger rotters were red-hot. The contact went and got some water poured onto the red-hot rotter. The contact stated that steam filled the air. The contact contacted a mobile independent mechanic and the vehicle was diagnosed with a lock brake chamber. The contact was informed that the electric park brake needed to be replaced with additional unknown parts. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v541000 (parking brake) however the contact's VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The manufacturer confirmed that the recall repair was performed in September 2014 on the contact's vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Xts. The contact stated while driving 25 mph and attempting to stop with the brake pedal applied, the vehicle failed to respond and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard.   the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced . The vehicle was not repaired . The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage 118,000.  .

Numerous problems for a year have been: engine dies while driving, car totally dead with new battery, display partially black randomly or totally black along with radio display black, park assist is turned off. Headlights turn off and on by themselves; the latest is driving up a hill @ 25 mph, the steering wheel jerked hard to the right at 2 different times. Had I not had a solid grip on the wheel, it would have taken down a 500 foot drop and we wouldn't be here today. This last episode is the first time their obd was able to read anything. It read "no communication to steering, no communication to brakes, radio, dash display" and other no communications. This car is unsafe to drive and should be recalled or taken off the road. It has been to 2 dealerships and so far have not identified anything that gives me faith in the reliability in the vehicle.

Light come dash board stabilitrak light light for master break steering it has been in many wrecks and they sold it to me it keeps going sometimes when you hit the breaks jump’s stuffers the drivers seat goes all the way back when you get out off car.

The contact owns a 2018 Cadillac Xts. The contact stated while driving 45 mph and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the brakes had been previously replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the rear brakes were failing. The contact stated that a dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was inspected, and the contact was informed that there was no failure found with the rear brakes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v576000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 51,870.

Forward collision system has not been working properly for the past 3 years the car has been in for service for this problem the last time was March 1st 2023. I nearly had 3 accidents due to the system not working. The last contact was holman Cadillac I was told by the service manager he would set up appt with the factory service rep and he has not gotten back to me by today's date June 12th 2023. Tl-the contact rented a 2018 Cadillac Xts from enterprise car rental. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into the rear of the vehicle ahead. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to enterprise car rental. The contact was unaware as to whether or not the vehicle was ever diagnosed. The the contact was informed by a third party that handles liability for enterprise car rental stated that the vehicle may be declared a total loss. The contact was unaware as to whether or not the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. Ah.

Brakes squeal when vehicle placed in reverse on inital movement after setting all night (interstate battery) battery drained totally dead after 1 year of service on new battery. Car was driven to store, parked, after shopping the car was dead would not crank. Nothing was left on to drain-----mechanic said it was inherant on some vehicles.

In the last two years the car randomly has a complete power failure and loss of power and electrical while driving. Without warning the engine shuts down and all lights, dash panel, power steering, power brakes, etc completely shut down requiring the car to coast to a stop and put into park at which time the car will restart. This has happened approximately 10 times in the last two years. The dealership informed me it was an issue with the battery and replaced but occurred again a month later and they had no codes to indicate what was happening. On two occasions the car lost power in heavy traffic and wouldn't start for 10 minutes at which time it suddenly had power with the radio and lights turning on again. Looking online I've found numerous issues similar to mine with 2013 models but no fixes have been found. This is extremely dangerous to have happen driving in heavy traffic and suddenly have no power, especially without power steering or brakes requiring longer stopping distances, and time to attempt to steer to the shoulder.
