Steering Problems of Cadillac XTS

Stabilitrak light comes on that also causes the engine light to come on. The vehicle self-accelerate while in park and did again when in drive. Can not tell you how fast the rpm accelerated due to panic that the vehicle was self-accelerating but it didn’t last long. Really quick and it went back to normal idling. Vehicle is scheduled for inspection today 1/20/25 at classic Cadillac atlanta. No warnings were given, lights(stabiltrak) just came on. Also the suspension rides very low. It feels like there are no shocks either front or rear.

Numerous problems for a year have been: engine dies while driving, car totally dead with new battery, display partially black randomly or totally black along with radio display black, park assist is turned off. Headlights turn off and on by themselves; the latest is driving up a hill @ 25 mph, the steering wheel jerked hard to the right at 2 different times. Had I not had a solid grip on the wheel, it would have taken down a 500 foot drop and we wouldn't be here today. This last episode is the first time their obd was able to read anything. It read "no communication to steering, no communication to brakes, radio, dash display" and other no communications. This car is unsafe to drive and should be recalled or taken off the road. It has been to 2 dealerships and so far have not identified anything that gives me faith in the reliability in the vehicle.

I was driving north on I-65 traveling about 65mph and the rear air suspension failed and dropped to the point the tires were about 1 inch (2. 54 cm) from the finder wells. I lost control of the car, the rear end was bouncing, almost causing me to crash. Not only that, but I had to drive it home with the hazards on, while driving on I-65, people passing me at 70mph. Cadillac knows about this fault and refuses to fix it. They want to charge you $1,000 plus to replace the entire system. My Cadillac was just at the dealership about 8 days prior to this incident for mileage scheduled maintenance, in which the suspension is one of the things they were supposed to have checked out. Someone if they haven't already is going to get killed when this happens. There is no warning.

On 4 separate occasions over the last few months the power steering has quit working while driving. Has happened while turning and while driving straight. Has happened while accelerating and while driving constant speed. After stopping, turning engine off and then restarting the problem goes away. I do get a message that power steering is out on the dash but it is very evident when it goes out. Internet search says this is a problem on other models and recall issued. Dealer says no such recall on my vehicle.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Xts. While driving approximately 25 mph, the power steering suddenly malfunctioned and caused the steering wheel to seize. The driver was unable to turn the steering wheel in either direction. After turning the vehicle off and restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 57,000.

Takata inflattors: had been having difficulty with the steering in my Cadillac 2014 Cadillac Xts vsport for sometime back in 2017. It would become hard to steer at times when negotiating turns especially or when backing up and turning. Had reported to joe bullard Cadillac service department on several occasions and they inspected the vehicle by putting it on the computer to see if and thing showed up which nothing did on the many many occasions which I took the vehicle into the for this concern. Then on November 22nd, 2017; I was traveling on a community street and the vehicle would not turn and I had a server accident with the vehicle as a result. This accident incurred over $22, 000. 00 worth of vehicle and property damage which is considered by my auto insurance provider as an at fault accident on my part. Yet in all reality, it is a recall safety issue which could have done others and myself great physical harm. Vehicle was in motion.

Electric power steering goes out and makes the car impossible to steer or maneuver. Check engine light comes on while in motion and the car loses speed causing other cars to almost rear end you on city streets.
