Suspension Problems of Cadillac XTS

Stabilitrak light comes on that also causes the engine light to come on. The vehicle self-accelerate while in park and did again when in drive. Can not tell you how fast the rpm accelerated due to panic that the vehicle was self-accelerating but it didn’t last long. Really quick and it went back to normal idling. Vehicle is scheduled for inspection today 1/20/25 at classic Cadillac atlanta. No warnings were given, lights(stabiltrak) just came on. Also the suspension rides very low. It feels like there are no shocks either front or rear.

With no warning and only 45000 miles on car rear air suspension motor failed on expressway! I quickly noticed my steering anti red seemed out of control! I quickly pulled over not knowing what was wrong. My husband came to meet me and immediately asked what was in my trunk! I told him nothing he said my back tires were 1/4 inch from hitting wheel well. The rear end was so low if I did not pull over and hit a bump or rock my tire would of hit top of body of car! I would of lost control of car! thank god I pulled over when I did it could of killed me or someone else in road! I contacted gm within hrs of it happening! as I looked it up on line it said some of my make and model weee recalled and safety admin was looking into it! went back and forth with gm and dealer and 2 1/2 weeks later still pursuing gm! there is now a claim in for full reimbursement and still have not heard back! my car was out of warranty but this is a huge safety issue! I could of been killed in that car! it will kill someone’s if they do not address this! lots of calls on my end where it seemed like they were concerned and eager to help! turned out to be lots of waiting for non returned calls and them not doing anything at this point! last call was Friday last week when they put in for full reimbursement and a promise to call me by Tuesday! no call so I called today where again I was promised to hear back by end of today! I will attatch service receipt! the rear end was so low that tow truck damaged bottom of my bumper! somebody again is going to be injured or killed from this! hopefully they don’t deny my reimbursement from this complaint and dealer west herr chevy of rochester wanted nothing to do with any help gm was going to do not sure if that is why I was getting run around from gm! joellen lauderdale 585-503-8267.

Front right passenger side suspension slams hard on the ground while driving at times. It has occurred multiple times and this can be dangerous while driving. It has been checked out and repaired by replacing them but front right side suspension still slams while driving after a few months. This is an expensive problem as well as dangerous.

I was driving north on I-65 traveling about 65mph and the rear air suspension failed and dropped to the point the tires were about 1 inch (2. 54 cm) from the finder wells. I lost control of the car, the rear end was bouncing, almost causing me to crash. Not only that, but I had to drive it home with the hazards on, while driving on I-65, people passing me at 70mph. Cadillac knows about this fault and refuses to fix it. They want to charge you $1,000 plus to replace the entire system. My Cadillac was just at the dealership about 8 days prior to this incident for mileage scheduled maintenance, in which the suspension is one of the things they were supposed to have checked out. Someone if they haven't already is going to get killed when this happens. There is no warning.

Rear air suspension gave out while driving and will not air/raise back up. Air springs and suspension compressor are working but the car still will not rise. Very dangerous. This is a common problem with these car but Cadillac won’t acknowledge.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac Xts. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer for a routine maintenance checkup. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the mechanic discovered that the drive shaft had disconnected from the rear differential and needed to be replaced. The contact was then given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

The suspension in the rear of the vehicle will suddenly and without warning totally collapse. This has happened while driving and also one first getting into and starting the car. Mechanic replaced a relay switch but the problem continues still. I have looked online and found many similar accounts from various owners of this year and model!.

The suspension of the vehicle gives out and a corner of the car will slam to the ground while driving. It can be dangerous when driving on the freeway. Year over year we have had the " service leveling system " error come up for our vehicle. It is not only expensive but dangerous to drive not knowing when the suspension will give out. Dealerships have made multiple repairs and updates to no avail. Nothing seems to fix the problem.

I purchased this car in December, 2019. The first problem is that they had to changed the radio. The second problem with the car is that the hazard 4-way flasher stopped working and was on permanently and because of that it killed the car battery. I called the Cadillac dealer and they told me to bring the car in. I git it jumped start and took it in that was in August, 2020. They told me the switch was no longer good and needs to be changed. It cost me over $400 to be fixed. On the day I picked up the car I noticed it a signed on the dash but I did not know what it meant but the car started to bounce. The following day I was on my way to NY from NY so I took lots of highway, from 287, rt 80 and so on into long branch, NY. On my way I almost lost my life because the car was bouncing out of control. I called the dealer and reported what had happened. Matthew told me to bring back the car to see what happed. I left the car for couple of days I think it was 8/28/2020. He called me on 9/1/2020 to let me know that the air suspension control module had failed and it would cost me over $1700. 00 to be fixed. Since that time the car has been sitting in my drive way and cannot drive because I do not have that money to get it fix. The car only had 56,000 miles on it and that should not have happen. Does this car has a defect and should be recalled? I am paying car payment and insurance for a defected car. Please let me know what I should do here. After I got to work and parked my car I went back to get my coffee mug when it appeared that my car was lowered to the ground as if all the air went out of all of the tires. The air suspension I suppose. Also, my display screen has gone out twice since I bought the car six years ago.

While driving, suddenly, the rear of the began bouncing wildly almost to the of losing control of the car, I pulled over, and the rear of the car was collapsed onto the tires. Was to drive it very slowly to the dealer and they replace a control module. Six weeks later it does it again and now it needs a rear air compressor. This is a safety problem that should be recalled.

The leveling system in rear goes flat, both tires almost touching fender well with no warning lights while driving down the road. Very dangerous. The first time it happened my wife was driving and scared the hell out of her then a couple days later I started it up and the air shocks went back up, we thought it was ok til yesterday when it happened again driving down the road. Now it sits in my driveway with the rear wheels sitting on rear fender wells. Both times we had no warning. The car has 35,000 miles.

After driving around town for 30 minutes, I parked the car, shut off the engine, got out to talk to a neighbor 6 houses away from where I live. 10 minutes later, I got back in the car, and drove for home. The first little crack in the road made the car ride like a go cart. After a few more feet, I could tell something was wrong, so I pulled over, and got out, and saw the rear of the car squatting down to where the top of the wheel opening was way past the top the the rear tire. I left the car running and could hear the air compressor running, and watched to see if it was raising the rear end to a level position, but after 30 seconds, it wasn't raising. So I got back in and limped home, scraping the street as I turned in to a slightly inclined driveway, and parked it in the garage and shut off the engine. I got out to listen for the air compressor to kick on and after 2 minutes, it did not kick on, so I got back in the car and started it up, then got out while it was running , to hear if the compressor would kick on tho raise the rear end up to level. It did not kick on, so I shut the engine off, and let it sit for an hour, then got in it and started it up, and got out to listen for the air compressor to kick on. It did kick on and I could see the rear end raising up, and it continued to run and lift until it was back to normal operating level, at which time the compressor shut off. I turned off the car, and let it sit overnight. When I checked it in the morning, it was still in the normal operating level, and it has not malfunctioned in the last 3 weeks 200 miles. It has 70,000 miles on the odometer. I took it to the Cadillac dealer and they checked it out, but it did not have any codes to show what the problem could be. This is a very dangerous problem if it happens while driving 70 mph down the road, and bottoms out at that speed. Very least it needs a safety stop.

My 2014 Xts has 25k miles. The rear electronic air ride suspension intermittently fails causing the rear end of the car to be lowered almost to the ground making it very dangerous to drive even at low speed. The occupants of the car are tossed around while the car is in motion due to no suspension making it very hard to maintain control of the car. This condition has happened several times while the car was moving at speeds less than 30 mph. The electronic suspension started out fine then within minutes the electronic suspension failed. My fear is it will randomly happen while at high speed on a highway which I've read has happened to several another Xts owners. My mechanic has replaced relay sensors and has successfully tested the air ride compressor motor and it still fails at random times. Having this condition happen especially at high speeds is a serious safety issue and could result in a major accident causing injury or death. Tl the contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Xts. While driving 50 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle because the compressor for the air suspension failed. The contact stated that the self leveling suspension system became inoperable and the vehicle was lowered to the ground. The vehicle was taken to alan jay Cadillac (located at 441 us highway 27 n, sebring, FL 33870, (866)278-2120) where it was diagnosed that the air compressor and air hose needed to be replaced; however, the compressor was not readily available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. The VIN was not available.

Suspension lost at rear of car on street.

I was driving the vehicle on a city street in traffic at approximately 30 miles an hour and the rear air suspension deflated and the rear of my car was laying on top of my rear tires causing them to rub against the inside of the rear wheel well. As I tried to drive off the tires were grinding up against the inside of the wheel well. I let the car sit as I waited for a tow truck for approximately 40 minutes and when I restarted the car the rear suspension inflated it once again. Then before I could make it home the rear air suspension deflated again while in traffic so I had to pullover to the side of the road and call for a tow truck again. As I was waiting for the tow truck approximately 40 minutes past again so I started the vehicle and the rear suspension and inflated properly and this time I was able to drive the car home and park in the garage. When I came out to the vehicle the next day and started the car the air suspension is now working just fine but I'm afraid to drive it because if the air suspension deflates again I'll be stuck in traffic somewhere.

2017 Xts, rear suspension air bags fail while driving, stoped and even parked. While driving at highway speeds or just parked rear end will drop unexpectedly. The rear end will start to bounce with just the slightest uneven road. This cause the driver to have to fight to stay in control of car and slow down very fast. With traffic behind it can cause someone to hit you from rear. Car has been to dealer several times and Cadillac say everything is normal. However after leaving dealer it continues to happen. Cadillac has know about this for many years and ignores the problem on the Xts. The rear end will drop to a level the you can not even touch the top of the tire or even the middle. Almost touching the ground at rear. First time was April 2019 right after warranty was out. The said I needed shocks 1500. 00 did not do anything but drain my wallet. Cadillac needs to own up to the problem and fix it.

6 months after I purchased this vehicle the cue system completely stop functioning so I had that replaced at lee Chevrolet costing around $1000. Now the rear shocks are stuck in the upward position causing a ride similar to a gocart. This is going to be my last repair on this vehicle then it will be no more Cadillac's for me. This vehicle only has about 80,000 miles on it so I feel gm should have a recall on these cars im sure they know about all of these issues with a car costing $50,000 plus when it was new.

My car has about 84k miles and the struts are shot. I have a 2003 truck with way more miles. . . . No problem. I understand a lot of people are having this problem and each strut is about $700.

While I was driving rear dropped to ground I almost had accident on busy hwy stoped the car on curb side to look rear was almost on ground wait for 10 minutes start the car it went up but now it happens all the time and dealer doesn't know the cause I sow more than 100 complaine on the same model and year car I am hoping to NHTSA will do something to make gm fixed the problem. It happened last December and still happening.

Rear suspension completely lowered to the ground while running. Dealership started this was due to a burnt leveling system. At the same time, the cue system disconnected to work as it should. Vehicle has 68k miles. After fixed, now the gets stuck in the up position often. Dealer then replace the front strut since they claimed this was causing the issue. Vehicle still with the same issues event after several visits to the dealer to re-level the vehicle.

While driving on the hwy, my rear suspension lost all air and dropped fully causing a very bumpy ride and unsafe handling. Vehicle showed a leveling fault on the dash. Later that day it was working normally again. While it is unkown what caused this to happen I believe the air compressor that inflates the rear suspension failed.

Takata inflattors: had been having difficulty with the steering in my Cadillac 2014 Cadillac Xts vsport for sometime back in 2017. It would become hard to steer at times when negotiating turns especially or when backing up and turning. Had reported to joe bullard Cadillac service department on several occasions and they inspected the vehicle by putting it on the computer to see if and thing showed up which nothing did on the many many occasions which I took the vehicle into the for this concern. Then on November 22nd, 2017; I was traveling on a community street and the vehicle would not turn and I had a server accident with the vehicle as a result. This accident incurred over $22, 000. 00 worth of vehicle and property damage which is considered by my auto insurance provider as an at fault accident on my part. Yet in all reality, it is a recall safety issue which could have done others and myself great physical harm. Vehicle was in motion.

My wife and I were traveling at interstate speed -( 70 mph) about 4 pm when a loud explosion occurred in the rear part of the car. It caused the car to swerve and drop about 6 inches. I almost hitting an 18 wheeler and there was another 18 wheeler behind me. Other cars around me started to blow their horns in alarm. I carefully slowed the car while, putting on the emergency flashers, and moved to the right lane attempting to find an emergency parking place. I felt I needed to assess the damages. There was no place to stop! I was forced to drive @ a mile to an exit ramp where I could safely stop and call the Cadillac service dept. The service tech recommended I drive it to the nearest dealer (austin TX - 35 miles away) or limp 60 miles to san antonio where I purchased the car and have it serviced). My wife is not well and I selected san antonio for medical reasons. The dash warning indicator stated, "leveling device service needed. " san antonio's Cadillac service mgr. Stated two problems needed repairing: 1) both air blathers exploded and 2) the leveling air compressor needed replacing. This is the second time this car was seen by this dealership for leveling problems. This was a very serious experience for me, a combat veteran and senior citizens near age 80 . My wife and I could have caused a very bad accident in the middle of heavy commuter traffic on I-35 in austin TX in rush hour traffic. I have never had an auto driving accident in my life. This experience was freighting and I am reliving the drama of how bad it could have been for the two of us. I no longer trust the car and feel I may be forced to trade early even though I just purchased an extended warranty to 85k or July 2020 which ever occurs first. .
