One problem related to front suspension leaf spring shackle has been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving on a city street I heard a loud bang from the rear of my vehicle. When I got home and looked around I found out my driver side leaf spring shackle snapped in half and the leaf spring shot up and tore a hole in my truck bed. Luckily the truck was unloaded at the time. The shackle rusted through and failed.
