While traveling up I-65 north on August 17th, 2004, I experienced a tread seperation on my tire. I was able to pull over just before the tire was able to shred to pieces.
While driving on the freeway at 60 mph, driver's side rear tire exploded from the sidewall. When this occurred, driver lost control, and went off the road. Other 3 tires and spare were splitting at the sidewall. Cause of the failure was undetermined.
The rear drivers side tire rubber was very flimsy. Rocks were able to get inside the tread and pearce through which resulted in a flat tire. The tire was repaired.
