One problem related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe has been reported for the 2004 Chevrolet 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I own a 2004 Chevrolet silverado 1500 4x4. I have a broken rear exhaust manifold bolt on the left side of my 5. 3 v8. I hear this is an extremely common problem. My local dealer wants $1,600 to fix it because you do need to pull the aluminum head to repair it!! I completely agree with the head needing to be pulled, but I believe that gm needs to step up and fix this extremely common and ongoing problem. It is definitely a manufacturer defect!!.
