My tailgate straps have ripped apart while opening the tailgate.

Tailgate cable failure, both cables broke in the middle when I sat on the tailgate. I have replaced them with new from chevy dealer and told them it should be a recall item.

3 Tailgate Hinge problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2003

Tailgate cable rusted and snapped.
