Three problems related to brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings have been reported for the 2005 Chevrolet 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
All brake lines under drivers door severely rusted. The line going to the rear ruptured above the fuel tank causing failure of brake system.
Brake lines are rusted and need to be replaced according to dealer. . . . . Estimate for the work is $1,800 this seems very premature for a 6 year old heavy duty truck.
Moving my chevy 2500 silverado (year 2005) in my driveway,I applied my brakes the pedal was very soft and went to the floor,I applied the emergency brake stopped the truck, got out to look what happened. There was a large mark of brake fluid on the driveway, the brake line had failed,it had corrosion all over it. Had it towed to dealership, they said the brake line had failed, and gm, was not going to repair it.
