Eight problems related to air bag have been reported for the 2008 Chevrolet 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Truck would not start so I put the battery charger on it, on slow charge. About 2 hours later I heard a loud bang, walked out side and both air bags had deployed and busted the windshield.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Tl- takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available for an extended period of time and stated the contact would need to wait for the second notification letter. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Takata recall. I received my notice for recall July 2015 and have contacted the dealer on several occasions only to be told no replacement parts are available. Given the nature of the recall and the fact injuries and deaths are still occurring how long do they have before they must replace the defective part.

I suggest they be ordered to stop producing cars until they fix the ones that are on the road already. Perhaps that would get them to produce a remedy for this life threatening safety problem!.
Takata recall received July 2015 and have not been notified of parts available as yet. With deaths being reported frequently I would like to know when to expect repairs to be done.
Cracks in the dash around front passenger air bag. If air bag is deployed in the event of a front end collision, pieces of the dash can come loose and cause additional injuries, or possibly damage the air bag duing deployment.
Crack on the dash from the air bag to the defrost vent.
