1 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Since August I have noticed approximately 5-6 incidences when there was a brief failure in the ignition of the truck causing me to have to turn the ignition key a second time. It has started correctly on the 2nd try, so far. However, each time this has happened, I've noticed that the clock went back to default. This does not happen every time nor does there appear to be a pattern for when it happens such as driving a short distance, a long distance or the first start up of the day, etc. I'm not getting any malfunction warnings. The vehicle is up to date on inspections and maintenance. The battery was replaced about a year ago. The vehicle is equipped with an after factory electric brake unit. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle. To my knowledge, it has not been in any accidents nor has it had any other malfunctions.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

While driving at any speed, engine will suddenly shut off, requiring me to pull off the road (without the use of the power steering) and to wait a few minutes to restart the engine. Had one close call, as someone behind me had not noticed my truck slowing suddenly. They had to make a quick adjustment to avoid me. This engine failure has happened about 10 or twelve times. Doing research has found the problem to almost certainly be the crankshaft positioning sensor. Chevrolet tells me that my VIN number is not on the recall list. As this is a safety problem, why would only a certain number of trucks be recalled to be fixed?.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 01/03/2014

While driving out of my driveway, I suddenly lost both power steering and power brakes. I was able to get back into my driveway, but with considerable effort. I called my mechanic and was advised that the power steering pump had failed, causing the power brakes to fail, also. The power steering pump shaft broke. I use the truck mostly to tow a horse trailer. I shudder to think what may have happened had the failure occurred on my way to a camp site on a curving two lane road. I researched the failure on line and discovered it is not a rare occurrence, and has been happening to several model year Chevrolet trucks. This is a low mileage vehicle I purchased new. It has never been abused or misused.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 11/02/2011

Speedometer failure and rpm indicator failure on cluster panel. Cause x25. 168 stepper motors are failing. For 2005 model year the recall only covered vehicles manufactured in 2004 up to Jan 2005. My vehicle was manufactured in March 2005. Clearly the same defective cluster assembly was still being used in the mnufacturing process. Vehicle was purchased new in July 2005. Gm recall needs to be expanded as there are numerous complaints for this same issue beyond the current recall parameters.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 12/22/2009

I have had my blower fan motor replaced the dealer just replaced my cigarette lighter when they were replacing my recalled speedometer they said the wires were melted to cig assembly, days later my truck burnt to the ground. The cause was the heater resister and fan motor started this fire. I am out a truck the dealer says that's what insurance is for. Big deal I get 75% of my truck's value. This was a 2005 2500hd extended cab truck in excellent condition. Why do we as customers have to put up with these defects and take the loss. We suffer. The question is how many fires have been associated with this year truck and the factories problems. When do we as high paying customers get some help with or struggle to keep what we paid for still working with out being burnt.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 12/22/2009

Heater blower connection at the resister module fails because of what appears a poor connection design, has the potential to catch fire and short the complete electrical system as a result create the conditions for a accident, 2007 silverado gm.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 09/25/2009

My 2001 chevy with the 8100 engine would stall at speed and also at idle. The at-speed stall would restart on its own within 3 or 4 seconds. The at-idle stall would require some engine cranking but it would restart. (odometer reading was 105,000km)there is a recall for this engine (crank positioning sensor)however my VIN is outside of the recall. Dealer not sure what to do. I had them replace the sensor at my expense. This move resolved the stall problem. It has never stalled again. Question: why would my VIN not be included in the recall. . . . Same symptoms . . . Same solution as the recall !.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 06/23/2009

The blower motor (for heat & air conditioning) stopped working and was replaced on our 2005 chevy silverado 2500. With in a year it stopped working again and upon inspection we along with raymond Chevrolet in antioch, illinois noticed that the blower motor was burned out and the resister harness was burnt. As if it was on fire. Thankfully no further damage was done besides the burning of the motor, wires and harness. This was replaced again on 10-30-08 and now on 06-23-09 again the motor has burnt out again. The dealership service department had no explanation why this has happened 3 times and being aware of this we make sure nothing is close to the dash preventing a spread of fire in case it were to happen again, which it has.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 01/12/2009

I purchased a "new" 2005 chevy silverado 2500 utility bed work truck. . . The dealership ripped me off with the trade in;refused to apply the cash back and down payment assistance gm was offering-and when I got the truck home, saw the inside of toolboxes were rusted. . . The heater blew, the airconditioning quit working,stereo/cd player quit,as well. . . The dealer refused to fix the rust;destroyed the pics and service report regarding the trust. The oil cap blows off. . . It's been replaced several times- and in Jan 2009,truck kept overheating & brake lights went out. . . Dealer could not find source of engine leak;and failed to fix brake lights,. They state it's not their problem. The truck has 33,000 miles on it-I even purchased an extended warranty-but no one can or will fix it. Filed 2nd complaint with gm-they state the service department never documented the engine leak/overheating/brake problem !I took the truck back to dealer day after signed the contract-tried to get it resolved-they hid from me!!!!and sent my trade in to auction. . . They also failed to inform me of my 3 day right to rescind;so I canceled the loan on Jan. 2009-under the tila law. They are refusing to acknowledge my rights as a consumer;I will not pay 23,000 for a truck that is inoperable. . . Help!.
