1 Steering problem of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 11/30/2014

The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet 2500 hd. While driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

2 Steering problem of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

Going down the highway at approx 60 miles per hour. Truck turned off. This has happened several times. All electrical appears to be working. Other trucks with same model year had a recall under gm recall no. 06083. I have the same engine but they say mine is not subject to the recall.

3 Steering problem of the 2002 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 09/06/2011

All brake hydraulic lines are rusted, all fuel supply lines are rusted, excessive rust on frame and other undercarriage components, brake rotors, calipers all covered with excessive. Rust. These defects have serious safety implications, which could result in injury or death to the vehicle occupants or others. Gm should be required to issue a recall on these vehicles and replace all major corroded brake components with non corrosive metals, brake fluid lines, fuel lines, rusted frames and any other components. Many accidents will be occuring because of braking failures and frame failure. This recall should be issued immediately before any other failures occur. These gm trucks also have defective steering boxes that feel loose when rounding corners. I have had a 1995, 2001, 2002 chevy and GMC with same problem they never stood behind this problem other than to put some grease in which was a temporary fix.

4 Steering problem of the 2008 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 08/24/2010

My powering steering hoses runs too close to the turbo line and the hoses will wear through leaving you without any steering and any brakes. This should be a recall because this is a huge safety issue to people.

5 Steering problem of the 2001 Chevrolet 2500

Failure Date: 03/16/2010

The vehicle stalled while driving down a ramp to highway 41. Power brakes and steering did not work as the engine was dead. The vehicle had to be cranked repeatedly to get it to restart. This was the first incident that I remember, but it happened again many times over the years without warning. Finally this year after some research I found that the problem was caused by a faulty crank position sensor. I learned there was a recall (NHTSA - ea06016) for this but gm said my vehicle was not covered by it even though it was the same problem identified in the recall. I have read reports of others that had the same failure but gm has refused to fix saying the vehicle was not included in the recall. I believe the recall should be expanded as this is a serious problem that could cause an accident. The crankshaft position sensor was replaced and the problem has been solved. I have the old sensor if needed for testing.
