One problem related to carrier/rack has been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Trailer hitch. Welds have cracks. Looks like the welds were never completed. First noticed flexing in the hitch and replaced it before anything happened. I'm sending links to a few pictures.
