The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. The vehicle has firestone wilderness le tires, size p265/70r/16. While driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and called roadside assistance. The rear passenger side tire exhibited excessive tread separation and was replaced with a spare. The manufacturer stated that the tire was included in the recall defect. The NHTSA campaign id number was unavailable. Also, the front driver, passenger, and rear driver side tires exhibited severe feathering. These were the original tires on the vehicle. The dot number was unknown. The failure mileage was 42,000 and current mileage was 44,000. Updated 3/11/09 the consumer stated he hears a wobbling sound coming from the right rear of the truck. He discovered the tire had gone flat and further inspection revealed the tread belt had separated from the tire. Updated 03/13/09.
