Carrier/rack problems of the 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche

Dash has cracked in same place as many people have complained this is a defective part and would like it replaced.

Crack dashboard been replace o ce and crack again.

Cracked dashboard due to gm flaws.

My truck is one of the many with the cracking of the dash in multiple places. This vehicle has been stored in a garage or in shaded areas most of its life and has the defective dash board that is falling apart. I am concerned that if a airbag ever has to deploy, this dash could cause shrapnel to either puncture the airbag or harm a passenger. I have asked gm dealership to replace and they quoted thousands for what appears to be a proven defect.

Dash is cracked by the passenger front airbag. Truck only has 72k miles but dash cracked previous to 50k miles. I believe this crack could either cause shards from the dash or the airbag to fail if deployed.

Crack in the dashboard with sharp edges. This is the second time the dash has cracked. The first time was under warranty.

Interior dash has cracked and can potentially have sharp fragments injure passengers if a crash was to occur.

My dash cracked right by the airbag and has caused my airbag warning light to come on. Now my airbag warning light toggles between on and off. My dash continues to fall apart even with a dash mat covering it. I don't know if my airbag will deploy if needed. Plus I worry about shards of plastic hurting me or my family. Gm needs to do something. I don't know the exact day the crack showed up but I notice it in January 2017 while getting a stuffed animal out of the truck. Over the past months, the cracks have gotten worse to the point there is a hole in the dash from the shaking while I driving and nothing being secure.

The dashboard is cracking in multiple areas including the area surrounding the passenger side airbag. Not only is the crack visually unappealing but it poses a safety risk should pieces fly off in the event of an accident.

Dash plastic cracking around passenger airbag and the instrument cluster. Sharp pieces sticking up. Ccar wash personel can get cut when wiping dash during auto cleaning and detailing.

Crack in dash next to the airbag. Dash board becomes un attached between molds, causing the airbag deployment area to bounce and become unstable which may lead to improper deployment since the shifting and deterioration of supportive moldings and plastics can not support the deployment of the air bag. The crack happened while the vehicle was stationary at a stoplight on a full sun day, warm day. My vehicle has only 18000 mies.

My 2009 Avalanche ltz has a dash that has cracked completely in half, plus is cracking on the airbag passenger surround. My concern other than shrapnel in the event the airbag deploys is loss of steering control when the dash pieces lodge themselves between the steering wheel while the vehicle is in motion. The dash has never been abused or damaged by the owner in any way, and this is clearly a manufacturer defect. Almost without exception I have noticed this defect in every truck of this type. Please have an agent contact me if additional information is necessary. My local dealer wants $1600 to repair their defect.

Dash panels have cracked and anchor clips have broken. This has caused the panels to loosely rattle and propagate the cracks even further. Entire dash panel needs replacement.

Dashboard cracked and keeps cracking one right by passenger airbag and it started while driving.

My dashboard has 2 cracks extending from each corner of the passenger air bag panel. I have seen hundreds of the same type of crackage and I believe that Chevrolet should send out a recall to repair all of the cracked dashboards. I believe that there maybe an issue if the passenger airbag deploys.

My truck has 2 major cracks on the dash that just appeared within the last 6 months. I have owned the vehicle since July 2013. One is right in front of the drivers seat on the dash and cracks from my display behind my steering wheel all the way to the windshield. The second crack in the dash is in front of the passengers seat and runs into the airbag. All gm model SUV/trucks from 2007-2013 are having the same problem! I do not understand why gm will not recall this issue. If either of my air bags have to deploy, we could get killed by the sharp cracked shards busting out of the dash and stabbing us. I bought this specific vehicle when my first born son was 1 month old because I was driving a little Honda civic and wanted something safer for my child. Now he is 2 1/2 and I also have a second son now that just turned 6 months. I'm disappointed in chevy for not fixing this problem when its going to cause a death! it would be really unfortunate if my children or one of their parents get killed because of this dash issue. Gm will do nothing to fix the problem and wants to charge 1300. 00 to fix it!!.

The dashboard is cracking just like every other 07 - 14 tahoe, yukon, Avalanche!!.

Dashboard is cracking in the typical locations that have been documented. Above instrument panel and passenger air bag. I am worried this may cause injury if involved in an accident. The dash may splinter and become a projectile.

Major dash cracking above the instrument cluster on both sides of the dash hump. 3-4" crack on the left of the hump, approx 6-8" on the right. Another crack starting at the middle of the dash, going through the dash mounted speaker opening from the front vents all the way to the wood trim above the radio (6-8"). Another crack to the front left of the airbag, approx 2" long. Rattling on every little bump. I believe this has also compromised some of the electrical systems that control the door locks and windows. Several of the cracks were noticed in the morning before moving the vehicle and were not seen the previous night.

The dashboard is cracking on its own just like all similar vehicles of the same model years from chevy and GMC. It is a safety concern for when airbags are deployed.

It is a know issue the any gm from 2007-2013 have issues in the dashboard getting cracked. Mine is a 2009 chevy Avalanche and my dashboard has cracked in several places. The manufacturer knows about the problem but has done nothing about it to get the customers taken care of. This is definitely a manufacturer defect. How can you help the consumers get their dashboards fixed?.

The dashboard cracked in 2 places. One crack is over the instrument cluster on the drivers side and the other is on the passenger side next to the air bag. I was told that the replacement part has been modified to correct this issue, but gm will not pay to replace the dash. Will the dash shatter if the air bags are deployed?.

Multiple cracks in dashboard deck around airbag compartment as well as instrument cluster. Well maintained and taken care of; literally appeared one day and have spread and gotten worse.

Cracked dashboard - the dashboard has cracked in 3 different areas. I am worried about the cracks and what could happen if the airbag needed to deflate.

I have two cracks in my dash, one at the top left corner of the passenger air bag and one over the instrument cluster. I also have broken supports in the front section of the dash. This is a known issue that is documented on a facebook page called "07-13 gm cracked dash safety hazard for all trucks". This is a safety hazard if the airbag deploys and the dash breaks up into pieces, creating flying shards.

Dash is cracking very badly, peices are coming off into the driver and passenger area. Risk of cut or stabs with hard plastic.
