Driving at speeds of 60 the truck will just shut down. The truck engine light comes on and it reads reduce engine power. I have no gas, no brake, very little steering. Chevy dealer says it's the truck going into limp mode. Is limp mode a real thing? I googled it. . But couldn't find anything on it. I tried to look up recalls on 2003 chevy Avalanches but couldn't find any of those either. There have got to be more people out there experiancing this problem. Help!!!! I have 2 small children and don't want them hurt in the vehicle.
Door handles peeling of the metal plating on the interior door handles caused injuries from minor to severe paper-cut-type cuts.
The vehicle's speedometer was sticking for about 5 miles. Then, the vehicle's speedometer stopped on 60 mph permanently. The speedometer has been stuck at 60 mph and poses a signifcant safety hazard. Also, several other owners have had the same issues with this model 1500 series Chevrolet pick-up truck.
This afternoon while going out shoping I badly cut my finger while opening the door of my vehicle. The door handle of my vehicle is plated in chrome. This chrome is now coming undone, and is razor sharp. I plan on reporting this to the dealer tomorrow, but would also like regiseter my complaint with NHTSA.
While driving at highway speeds in a 2009 Chevrolet avlanche, the electronic power will shut off to the vehicle on an intermittent basis. Interior lights flash disorienting the driver, locks switch on and off, power to the engine is intermittent and surges forward upon power coming back. Traction assist and parking assist toggle on and off in rapid succession causing driver to nearly lose control of vehicle. Incidents last for approximatley 10 seconds at a time. Incidents happen in clusters and may go weeks or months at a time without incident. Has occured approximately 10 times in the last year and usually after the incident the vehicle has difficulty starting afterwards. Power will be completely off. After a period of time, vehicle will start back up and appear to be fine until the next incident. Have taken the vehicle to dealer (still under warranty) about six times for this problem and contact gm technical assistance. Have been told that since the vehicle's internal computer does not generate a "code" there is nothing that can be done.
The chrome on the interior front door handles is cracking and has caused minor razor like cuts. The problem is identical to oid id no10429541. The local Chevrolet dealer immediately recognized the problem, but indicated the TSB only applied to model year 2007. I believe this should be expanded to cover all affected years and models. Consumer cancelled request 04/13/lj.
Second chevy 04 that transmission went in my first was a tahoe now my Avalanche! all this money into vehicles and they don't last 50,000 miles or with my truck 75,000 what is wrong with chevy transmissions? we traded tahoe in for a Subaru and my next truck will not be a chevy even though I have alot of money on my gm credit card towards a new vehicle!.
. First the speedometer stopped working, then the tachometer stopped working and the latest is the fuel gauge.
My 2004 model at 70 mph the front right wheel act like a basketball after hitting a hole, I cross the lane into the oncoming traffic, or the left lane on an interstate etc. There is no control until I slow down. The dealer shiip here says they have never heard of it before. So I ask - what did they do to my 2000 model when it did the same thing 4 years ago ?.
2002 chevy Avalanche 2500 with 8. 1 engine dies without warning at driving speed. The battery light comes on, after the vehicle shuts down, but no check engine light, no problems with alternator or battery charge. No sputtering or sluggishness, no warning whatsoever. The vehicle just shuts down. When this happens there is no power steering and no brakes for this 7k pound vehicle! sometimes, once pulled over and shutting everything off and trying to restart it it will restart immediately, sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes of trying to crank it intermittently before it will restart. It has done this twice in the last three days and a dozen times at random intervals over the last several months I have read on the internet others from who have the same problem and most likely solution seems to be the crankshaft position sensor which some say has been recalled on the 2001 model engine for the silverados, but cannot find anything for the same 2002 engine. This is dangerous and frightening enough at "neighborhood" speeds, but considerably more so at interstate speeds as the vehicle loses all power when the engine shuts down, leaving the driver unable to steer, brake or immediately restart the vehicle leaving it stalled in the middle of the interstate!.
Speedometer began working erratically and then not at all. Dealership replaced "stepper motor clutch". Charged for labor only.
The dash is cracked next to the airbag on passenger side. Manufacturer refuses to fix or replace without the consumer taking responsibility and paying for replacement. This is a one owner vehicle, garage parked, dash-mat since first acquired truck. This seems to be a very widespread problem for gm vehicles of the same make and other similar vehicles. I have a huge safety concern that the airbag upon deployment will be ruptured and become ineffective due to the crack in the dash possibly puncturing the airbag. It is also very evident that this is a manufacturing flaw that gm will not stand up for and take responsibility.
The speedometer in my '05 Avalanche stays at zero while driving or reads anywhere form 20-40 mph slower than I am going. I was doing about 50 mph on the freeway passing everyone (according to my speedometer) and passing everyone in sight. It felt a little fast so I turned on my gps and realized I was going about 80 mph. This is a major problem and gm needs to recall the vehicle.
Anytime I turn the air on in my 2005 chevy Avalanche it makes a high pitch screaming sound. I have had two blower motors installed and it is in need of a third. This sound is still present even after I have had the new motors installed. I have had one mechanic say their is a crack in the plenum box and it would take 11 1/2 hours to repair and cost $ 1700. This is the only quote I have had so far. I have had it at the dealership where I bought it and they never seem to find anything, then again they seldom do anything right.
: the contact stated the spare tire release system was dangerous to operate, as the users body was placed into a position that may cause injury. The manufacturer was notified. Updated 12/5/2006 -.
Aggressive driving/tailgating/excessive speed by a government van- tag g 4/3 1335b at 2:05 pm, July 20, 2006 on and near the woodrow wilson bridge, washington DC. Please pass this information along to the appropriate agency.
The passlock system that comes on the 2005 chevy Avalanche can be bypassed by a pin hole in the drivers side key tumbler. Shuts off the system and interior items are accessible to thieves. A alternative security system has to be added to be secure. Chevy doesn't provide this. It has to be aftermarket.
The rear window in my Avalanche) I was washing my truck and took out the rear window to clean it and I notice that the rubber that is around it, is totally cracked on the driver side and in the otherside its staring to crack my question is do I have to check with other Avalanche owners to see if thats only on mine or depends on how many letters about this you recive.
I was removing the rubber mat in the bed of the 2003 Avalanche truck to clean it. To remove the mat you must first remove the plastic transition plate at the front, just behind the rear seat. To remove this plate you must slide your finger under it to pop it up. As you slide your finger under it you will slice your fingers on the razor sharp plastic. I sliced my fingers to the bone, the cuts should have had stitches but I butterfly bandaged them. I have not corrected the problem as of yet, but I think filing down the sharp edge would prevent this from happening again.
My complaint is that you do not list the Chevrolet Avalanche in your recall list.
Vehicle doesn't come equipped with the door ajar warning feature. Consumer feels this is unsafe, cause while driving with their infant in the back seat, the passenger side door was ajar, and consumer wasn't aware of it. The child could of fell out of the vehicle. Please provide more details. Ts.
While transporting two kayaks, at 107 lbs. , the roof rack pulled loose from the roof. Dealers owners manual says the roof rack is good for 200 lbs. Dealer replaced rack, but would not repair damage to vehicle door when failure occurred.
