Gear shift indicator does not always light. Has been an issue with other models but has never been recalled for this specific model. Don’t always know what gear you are in. Spare tire completely rusted out, unable to get down. Not sure if this is a recall issue but apparently common for this vehicle.
My spare tire is completely stuck under my truck. I have to replace my emissions control valve but can't because the tire won't come out.
Vehicle hit a tree and airbags did not deploy.
Heard snap while driving hit median, and totaled my truck. It needs to be noticed if any body hasn't been killed yet.
The truck would not move; feels as if the truck locked up while driving and came to an abrupt stop.
I was driving to work on highway 144 going about 30 miles on October 5th around 1130 am. When my front passenger tire with axle inside it still came off and rolled away from the vehicle. My vehicle immediately bottomed out afterwards. I was informed by the previous owner after the accident that it happened to the front driver side as well. This has left me.
4"takata recall" the contact owns a 2004 chevy Avalanche with a set of capitol precision trac ll tires on it. While pulling off in the vehicle and driving around 35 mph you could feel the back end shaking and wobbling like the lug nuts were loose. The vehicle was pulled off the road to investigate the shaking issue where was found that the tires tread was separating making humps and waves in the tread. This happened on the highway at 92,207 miles on vehicle and 7, 319 miles on 265/70r17 capitol precision trac ll tires. The vehicle was parked for a few days until getting tires to replace the capitol tires but once the vehicle started moving to take it to the shop to replace the tires the front had started to shake just like the back at 92,221 miles on the vehicle but not as much. Walmart changed the tires and the technician reported the tires were really bad with tread separating from the tire and also that this brand tire were recalled. I have taken these tires back to tire pros where it was purchased and now is awaiting them to send these tires back to the tire company for an investigation of the tire. The recall # is 14t013-8570 if I'm not mistaken.
2012 Chevrolet Avalanche. Consumer writes in regards to one of the vehicle wheels rusting from the inside out.
I've had a problem with wheel corrosion. I reported this to gm in November 2013. They wouldn't do anything about it. On April 24, while travelling out of state, my wheel sensor went off indicating low tire pressure. I pulled into a garage. They informed me the problem was that the wheel was corroding around the valve stem, and that they could not repair the wheel. Fortunately this did not occur at high speed.
Pulling out of driveway and brakes completely went out. Luckily I was only going around 5 mph. Was able to use emergency brake to slow truck down next to the curb.
Cracked rim flange in 2 locations. Info as follows: wheel 20x8. 5jx; made in china; t-dot gm; cracks are at 12 o'clock and 2:30, full length of the flange where the tire mounts, on the inboard (mounting) side of the wheel. No other significant damage to the rim and no tires were damaged as removal was performed prior to a rapid air loss - tpms system provided early warning of diminished air pressure. 2009 Avalanche miles: 68,800 oem tire fitment: dueler h/l alenza 275/55r20 winter fitment: blizzak 275/55r20 rotation done during switch-overs mostly highway miles +/- 2500 miles trailer service, light duty. I purchased a new 2008 chevy Avalanche and, shortly after the first year of ownership, I noticed that the front tires were wearing on the inside. I had the vehicle alignment checked regularly and the alignment was within specs and the suspension was without defect. This was reported to the dealership, to the customer assistance department at Chevrolet and nothing could be found that was a cause for this condition. Recently, I took the vehicle back again to the dealer to check its suspension and alignment and it was clear that the front tires were cupping on the inside. The dealer shared a TSB with me indicating that this condition was normal. I contacted the customer assistance center again and they could not provide a solution or any accommodation for this. Something is wrong with the vehicle design that would cause this premature tire failure but Chevrolet is denying this. Please help as I have found this condition to adversely affect vehicle stability.
Gm had repaired the rust brake defects on my type of vehicle in many salt states that endure cold weather. But because there was not enough outrage they did not repair this same defect in my state. There is a problem with the wheel bearings where rust causes the anti lock braking system to needless engage when it should not during slow speeds sometimes making braking dangerous in slow turning and parking situations. I have already spent thousands of dollars fixing these defects on my own but because of a faulty design in the system this problem has a tendency to re occur.
