4 Suspension problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 05/02/2023

We are repair facility. On or about 5/2/2023 the vehicle was towed into our shop with the right front wheel bearing sheared off - the customer stated he did not have any impact/accident with the vehicle. We noted that the wheel bearing still rotated - no explanation on why the hub would shear off. At the time, we inspected the entire front suspension (with extra emphasis on the left front bearing/hub assembly) and found no deficiencies. On, or about 5/19/23 the vehicle was towed into the shop - the left front hub/wheel bearing assembly had sheared off. In 30+ years in business, we've never seen a hub shaft sheer - let alone 2 on the same vehicle.

Excessive rusting of the frame, brake lines, transmission lines, and fuel lines. The brake, transmission and fuel lines rusted completely out and required a full replacement. The frame has extensive rust and has deteriorated well beyond the frame of my 2003 camaro z28 which is 9 years older! the truck has less than 80k and has been well maintained, so there is no explanation for the amount and level of rust, except that there were inferior metals and manufacturing materials used in its construction.

18 Suspension problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 08/07/2012

One day while driving at 55mph the truck just shut down. Everything electrical completely shut off. Luckily I was able to control it. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it. It was fine but did it again when I stopped at a stop sign. It continued to do it but then just stopped. Check engine light goes off and on all the time when I accelerate up a hill. The lights on the dashboard are dim. Everything on the mirror comes and goes. It will go months without working and then comes back on. The suspension is terrible. Feels like it's going to shake the wheels completely off the truck when I hit even a small bump in the road. I've almost lost control several times due to it shaking so hard. Latch on the tailgate broke off and needs to be replaced. Rotor on back completely broke and had to be replaced.

19 Suspension problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche

Failure Date: 12/24/2009

I purchased a new 2008 chevy Avalanche and, shortly after the first year of ownership, I noticed that the front tires were wearing on the inside. I had the vehicle alignment checked regularly and the alignment was within specs and the suspension was without defect. This was reported to the dealership, to the customer assistance department at Chevrolet and nothing could be found that was a cause for this condition. Recently, I took the vehicle back again to the dealer to check its suspension and alignment and it was clear that the front tires were cupping on the inside. The dealer shared a TSB with me indicating that this condition was normal. I contacted the customer assistance center again and they could not provide a solution or any accommodation for this. Something is wrong with the vehicle design that would cause this premature tire failure but Chevrolet is denying this. Please help as I have found this condition to adversely affect vehicle stability.
