While in my driveway, I went to turn ignition on, and car would not start. Radio turned off. It was not until I floored the pedal that the gas and motor started. It happens off and on. Also the key and ignition switch entry area are extremely hot. I am worried this is in fact one of the ignition problems that chevy did not list or is refusing to fix. Please help,. It is not the battery.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that while starting the engine,the fuel tank caught fire. The vehicle was towed a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained pneumonia. Medical attention was required. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Jw.
