4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2012

Hi I bough a 2005 chevy Aveo with 9,000. 00 mile I had no problem. Until one day the car completely stop and wont turn on. It had almost 23,000. 00 when it happen. Luckily for me it stop in front of a mechanic shop. The shop check the car and said the engine is bad. I bough a used low mileage engine replace it and it turn on and drive except for the shifting. It didn't shift to fourth gear and also turn off while driving it. Then I was told the transmission is bad. I change the transmission with low mileage and still I have the same problem I had warranty change it again and still it doesn't shift fourth gear and it still turns off. I change the computer, I did a tune up, engine oil change, I've change the coils and some seal in top of the engine, and I still have the same problem. The car been sitting since then I wanted to wait to have money to fix it, thinking that maybe the shop was lying to me by asking me to replace all this things. I save I few dollars and wanted to get it fix I had another shop looked at it and it seems that is the same diagnostic was detected. I friend told me to google it and I found out that am not the only one with that problem. I just wish I google it before I spend all the money on it. Lesson learn I hope they do a recall because I too was afraid to drive and get in to an accident because it turn off on me .

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2010

I was running errands when steam came gushing out on my passenger side in the hood area. I pulled over to discover that my thermostat housing was broken and my thermostat laying elsewhere in the car. I searched the internet and discovered that this is a well-known problem. The current thermostat housing is made of plastic. The design is such that the only thing that was holding the thermostat in was a sound welded plastic seam. I have ordered a new metal housing with an improved design. To me, this indicates chevy knew about this problem. Called chevy consumer line and they gave the old line of your car is not under warranty and claimed they had no history of complaints.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2010

We were driving along in the dead of winter and noticed there was no heat. We hooked it up to a code reader and it came up p0128 a thermostat housing fault. Brought it in to get checked and it is the thermostat housing and the service center employees all knew this a known failure on this vehicle. The out of pocket cost 160. 00 for part only from chevy not including labor. The new one is metal not plastic like the one that rolled out of the factory, so this must be a consumer paid recall. Which should be against the law. If you make a faulty part that fails you should pay for it. Just ask Toyota, they are.
