12 problems related to air bag have been reported for the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo based on all problems reported for the 2007 Aveo.
While driving, the vehicle began experiencing repeated electrical failures including blown fuses, inoperative headlights and brake lights, and the transmission becoming locked in park. When the fuse blows, the gear shift cannot be moved out of park and the ignition key cannot be removed, leaving the vehicle stuck and unable to be driven or safely turned off. The brake lights and daytime running lights also stop working, making the vehicle unsafe to operate in traffic. This condition has been occurring repeatedly and requires frequent fuse replacement just to move or shut off the vehicle. An emergency override hole on the shifter had already been exposed, indicating the problem existed before and the vehicle was previously being forced out of park manually. A tow truck driver had to use this override to move the vehicle. The airbag warning light is also illuminated, indicating the safety restraint system may not function properly in a crash. These failures create a serious safety risk due to loss of exterior lighting, inability to shift, inability to turn the ignition off, and possible airbag malfunction. This failure is consistent with a known defect involving the daytime running light (drl) module overheating and causing electrical shorts, as documented in manufacturer recall and technical service bulletins for this vehicle. The problem has been reproduced multiple times and remains unresolved.
The airbag warning light has remained illuminated since I acquired the vehicle in January 2025. The warning light stays on continuously and does not reset. This indicates a fault in the airbag system, and I have been advised that when this light is on, the airbags may be disabled and may not deploy in a crash. The vehicle has also experienced ongoing electrical problems, including lighting failures, blown fuses, and shift-interlock malfunctions, which suggests an electrical system fault affecting multiple safety-related systems. These issues create concern that the airbag control system may be impacted by the same electrical malfunction. The vehicle has not been repaired or diagnosed by a dealer for the airbag issue. The condition is still present and the warning light remains illuminated. This failure creates a serious safety risk because the airbags may not function in the event of a collision.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the driver’s side front air bag sensor warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and connected the vehicle to a diagnostic machine and diagnosed a failure with front driver’s side air bag. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately of 52,000.
1. Airbag readiness light remains on for duration of vehicle's operation. 2. Driver side inside door latch is cracked and will not open door.
I would like to suggest the Chevrolet Aveo only has frontal air bags and should have more air bags especially for side collisions.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The failure was reported to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was to be taken in for further inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,800.
Air bag deployed light came on approximately 12/3 and stays on. Will this cause the bag not to deploy if there is an accident? I have noticed on line this has been mentioned by others as well. Should this be a recall issue or should the vehicle owner be responsible for the correcting of the problem?.
I was involved in an accident in which my airbag didn't deploy. I suffered from a concussion, a hairline nasal fracture, and I still have issues with my neck and back to this day. As I have noticed it seems to be a common problem not only with gm vehicles but Aveo's as well. When is a recall going to be issued?.
I was about to start the car and the airbag on the left side of the driver's seat exploded, injuring my left arm.
I was in an accident where the car had frontal impact damage and no air bags deployed. I hit a guardrail and a concrete wall due to black ice. The car is totaled out. I am deeply concerned that no air bags were deployed. Luckily, I was not severely injured just banged up and have pain in my neck, shoulders, and my lower back. ## VIN passed ## Chevrolet, Aveo 2007 ##.
In June, 2011 my sister was driving a Aveo and clipped a road sign on the right front bumper, continued to go straight over to left down an embankment of approx. 6 ft and 40-45 mph and hit steering wheel so hard that it broke steering wheel and busted her heart killing her instantly. I went to school for automotive and know a lot about cars and this accident makes no sense. I took pics of everything. Even though the airbag was out it didn't appear to have inflated completely and the clothing my sister had on she should've had some sort of cuts, burns, abbrasions, but instead nothing but a busted heart. She also hit the windshield with her forehead. I saw no sort of residue on or in the car as evidence that the airbag did what it was supposed to. She sustained injuries common to those injuries sustained from a car not equipped with an airbag. I was even going to see if Aveo came with a black box and to pull it off and have it analyzed, but the car got sent to junk yard before I could do that. No conclusion to this whole ordeal and this great loss we've suffered will ever bring her back, but knowing what I do about cars, I have so many questions and really want this looked into. I have inc reports pics of the scene with and without the car , as well as the car by itself panel for panel pics of the car. I know the Aveo is not one of the vehicles named on the news, but there are other similar cars with the same issues.
Light stay on always.
