There was no prior warnings or notices that there was an issue. While diving on a major road with my children, smoke started coming into the cabin from the vents, and around the stereo. Luckily I was near a very vacant parking lot and immediately pulled over. I removed the kids from the car safely and did open the hood to try troubleshoot the problem. There was no smoke anywhere under the hood. Immediately after, sparks started falling from under the steering wheel to the gas pedal. Immediately after that the car was engulfed in flames. The car is currently located at my local police impound and is available for inspection upon request. From the time the smoke started to when the car was engulfed, it was approximately 5 minutes. This could have been dangerous had we been on a highway and unable to pull over and get out of the car safely within that time. It was only inspected briefly by the fire department who arrived to put out the fire and they reported it was an electrical issue that caused the fire.
"takata recall" I was traveling along the garden state parkway northbound when my car stopped accelerating. I pulled over to the shoulder the car completely shut off and caught on fire. The whole car went up into flames while I was still in the car and was able to jump out of the passengeer side door. The car is totaled.
Chief deficiency: headliughts have spontaneously stopped illuminating. No high or low beam function of the driver or passenger headlamps. Bulbs were just replaced because lights were dimming. Upon replacement it was noted that the passenger plug in/socket was partially melted. Worked fine for 20 days; now no headlights at all. This occurred while I was driving after dark. I found there is a gm recall campaign 14236, dated 19may2014: recall # 14v261000 for exterior headlights. Additionally, to what is noted above, I have been smelling periodical whiffs of ozone while operating the vehicle these past few days. This vehicle is equipped with daytime running lights (drl).
Check engine light was on in morning when car was turned on, while going to work 20mph uphill my car started acting like I stopped pressing on the throttle pedal. I came to a stop on the hill placed car in park and restarted up hill. Car was noticeably trying to work 2x as hard. After work car was taken to a auto service center. The auto shop gave me these codes after the reading was completed; p2106, p2110, p2135, p2101.
When driving at 40 mph or over the antani makes a loud humming inside the car you cant hear its so loud . So if the cops fire or emsa was coming you wouldnt be able to hear them or other things you may need to hear . The antani is on top the roof and long at center front of the roof the wind hits it and the humming starts very loud . Every time I drive 40 mph and above it starts to humming and it is the antani.
My car has been having numerous airbag issues and electrical problems. The first issue with my airbags happened last year around this time. I took car to chevy service center and they told me they had to replace whole frontal airbag senor and other systems. In may of this year airbag light came on again. Took car to chevy service center and there were numerous fault codes particularly the passenger side airbag sensor. They told me that they believe there is a malfunction in the system but they were suggesting I replace the passenger airbag sensor. I asked gm to do a full system check on my airbag system but they refused. I could not afford the repairs so I did not have the issue fix. Also, I was not convinced that it would have solved the problem because they were not 100% sure since there were numerous fault codes. The next issue is hard to describe but when I am driving my car jerks and shakes and almost shuts down and starts back up at the same time. This happens whether I am standing by a light or fully in drive mode. I took car to shop but they could not diagnose issue because check engine light is not on and it does not happen all the time. Only when I drive my car for more than an 30 minutes to an hour.
The ignition gets extremely hot after driving to the point of my key actually burning me when I take it out.
