The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that dust and debris from the road enters the vehicle. The dust makes it difficult to breath and see when driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer in which a technician stated that because the vents are located in the wheel wells, excessive amounts of dust can enter. He then added that there was no available remedy for the failure. She contacted the manufacturer and was advised by a representative that because the vehicle sits low to the ground, dust intrusion is normal. The failure mileage was 800. The current mileage was 2900. Updated 10/13/09. The consumer received a letter from gm which stated what she was experiencing was normal. By federal law, the vehicle was designed with venting in the trunk over the wheel wells. An excessive amount of use on dirt roads would allow dust to enter the vehicle via the trunk. It also stated the vehicle was low to the ground as well will also contributed to the condition and there was no factory defect with the vehicle. Updated 10/15/09.
