You can't drive it anywhere it runs right then for no reason it loose power and won't accalrate while driving it will drop below 10 mph in traffic or lose all power while crossing road or turning I'm afeead I'll b hit in side or ran over in traffic.
Engine light came on while driving and car started to slow down. It can't be throttled beyond 10-15 mph, so pulled over. Took it to closest auto parts shop and the code reader came up with p2101/p2135 indicating there is a potential problem with 'throttle' functionality. This problem was reported by gm eng. Team and there is a technical service bulletin with the same model but gm is not considering to fix the issue with my car as it is out of warranty. This is a serious safety concern and expect gm to help fixing it. It is same as NHTSA 10034366.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated independently. Car idles rough and shudders in park and while stopped at traffic signals. Car has died at stops numerous times but usually starts again with no problem. When driving at all speeds and depressing the gas the car has no response or loses power and will not accelerate, then the rpms shoot up and the car lunges forward. This is dangerous! replaced the maf sensor thinking this could be the issue. This did not correct the problem and car is still acting up. Intermittent failure. No trouble codes and no check engine light.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. While driving at 35 mph, the vehicle would accelerate without warning. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the spark plug and the air filter were replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,000.
I was driving up hwy 31 in columbus and my car was like it wasn't getting gas. The engine continued to run. I pushed the accelerator to the floor and it made a connection again in approximately 1 minute. This happened twice and I took it to poynter Chevrolet in seymour. Nothing showed up on the computer and they kept my car 3 days and could not get it to duplicate the problem. My car was only doing this once a week, now it is doing it most of the time. You have no warning that it is going to slow up, only moving from the momentum of the previous speed. I looked on the computer at "problems with chevy Aveos" and there are several people on the internet with the same problem. I called Chevrolet and they said they only do recalls from calls from mechanics who have fixed the same problem several times. How can I get this fixed if they don't know what is causing the problem? this could cause a fatal accident several ways so I'm afraid to drive the car. If I am on the highway going 70 mph and the car decides to just quit, I could get hit. If I'm making a left hand turn and there is on coming traffic I could get hit. I have a 2009 chevy Aveo and I am afraid to drive it. Please look at the internet at all the other owners having the same problem.
Just put it in drive give it gas wont go over 20 mph, put in nutreal it reves up rpms go up and sounds good put back in drive back to 20 mph even when giving it gas no rpms no go just 20 mph wont go any faster. What is going on. This seems to be a problem. . .
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated while driving various speeds and merging onto a highway when the accelerator pedal was engaged he was unable to increase speed. After coasting to the side of the road in order for the vehicle to reset the vehicle was taken to a dealer who advised him that there was a wire loose on the sensor for the acceleration. The loose wire was repaired. Approximately 4 months later the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that while driving at any speed the vehicle would unexpectedly decelerate, surge forward and then shake while slowing down. The contact would have to apply repeated pressure to the accelerator pedal in order to continue driving at a normal rate of speed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed an engine coil and cylinder head failed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 16,000 and the current mileage was 17,000.
At any given time, during normal driving conditions the vehicle loses power and reduce speed without warrant, the rpm gauge will show at least 3 fluctuations of speed from 500 to about 3000 rpm when this occurs. Attempts to step on the gas pedal will not correct the situation. Second reaction from the driver would be to step on the brake pedal, and the vehicle will try to accelerate on its own. The vehicle will also stall if this occurs when being stopped at a traffic light and trying to accelerate. The dealer could not duplicate the failure in any of the three instances the vehicle was taken to them. Current mileage 13,421.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. When driving at speeds of at least 35 mph, the vehicle would lose power and decrease in speed without warrant. The contact would apply constant, steady pressure to the accelerator pedal until the vehicle would regain speed and resume normal operation. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but did not provide any further assistance. The failure and current mileages were 10,682.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. While driving the vehicle at a slow speed, the vehicle accelerated on its own. The dealer stated that they are unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was concerned since they were driving out of the driveway, which was on an incline. The vehicle continued to accelerate after taking her foot off of the accelerator pedal. The failure mileage was 25000 and the current mileage was 50000. Updated 10/05/10 the consumer stated the problem has worsened. The dealer claimed it was normal. Updated 10/07/jb.
