Electronic Stability Control problem #5

About 6 weeks ago smelled something burning. Prior to burning smell, the daytime running lights all inside dash lights and clock lights and gear shift lights went out while car was in motion on a major city street. All lights stayed off for about 20 mins. Daytime running ligts never came back on. Clock lights still goes off an on. Dash lights and gear shift lights came back on once. But have been off a month now. Reported to gm. Recall on daytime running lights fixed free. But they said no recall on wiring of lights. I am not the only owner that has thos problem there are many who have written complaiys on gm. Recall website. I have pictures of burnt fuse connector relay that controls all lights. 10 mins of mechanic checking the part was so hot he couldn't touch it. On 8/09/2016 terry cullen fixed recall. I payed them $100. 00 to check problem about lights they said they needed $400 more dollars for 4 hours of more looking. My family mechanic found problem with in 10 mins. . . . . . Dealer. . All about money! I think they should have saw the problem or even knew it.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

When using the cigarette lighter the fuse was blown on the radio. Now the delearship is asking for $120. 00 just to give us the code.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

While waiting in drive-thru for my order, my car began to shudder violently. I was idling at 1 rpm on the meter. Suddenly, my car accelerated itself up to 4 rpm. Had I not had my foot on the brake, I would have rear ended the vehicle in front of me. This persisted throughout the drive-thru and onto the roadway. I tried to accelerate and shift into second gear, but the car lost all power and then would rev up to 35mph without warning. Not once did my check engine light come on. Brought it to the dealer and was informed that my information cluster needed to be replaced and that chevy doesn't cover that part outside of the warranty period. I just paid my car off and the extended warranty just expired. I'm looking at paying $700 and they're not done looking at my car. This is unacceptable. Something needs to be recalled because from what I've read, my car isn't the only one that has experienced this.

Electronic Stability Control problem #9

Running hot smoking loud ticking turning of in the middle of high way steering wheel locked & now its not cranking up at all.

Electronic Stability Control problem #10

The Aveo lt was on I-85 ramp downtown atlanta trying to build speed when it stalled at an area where there is little side access. Car cooled off and was re cranked and brought to north end of atlanta for further inspections to see if the problem could be duplicated. Car rpms were noted to vary up and down and then stalled without warning at a major intersection where it was almost t-boned on peachtree industrial blvd norcross, GA where the speed limit was 55 mph. Mutiple obd codes were extracted ( a total of 6 ) . Car was further examined by ase mechanic shop that states that the vehicle ecm loses communication with sensors and other computers under these conditions. Ase mechanic states that ecm should be replaced. Gm car dealer ( rick hendrix GMC - duluth, georgia ) states that gm procedure is to apply sb pip4789c replacing front O2 sensor as a starting point to repair car using a newer O2 sensor that was made later than a certain date and to update ecm with newer software. Gm dealer states there is no need to drive the car to duplicate problem and to review using a scanning tool as the gm procedure is to be used and will be adequate. This situation is clearly dangerous. If a simple O2 sensor could suddenly could cause a known problem of this type in accordance with the gm sb then it should be covered by the 8/80k emissions warranty. If the ecm can lose communications with other essential items and cause a problem of this type that should not only be covered under the emissions but it should also be placed on recall. As an engineer with 36 years experience I am appalled. At a failure of this type. A person can be psychologically conditioned that their car is running fine and then at the next moment it completely stalls and may not allow them to clear an intersection.

Electronic Stability Control problem #11

In March the vehicle shut completely down and the fan belt popped and wrap around the motor and had damaged the timer belt. Two months later the vehicle was driven to the post office and when cranking it up to leave it wouldn't start because it had shut down again. September 27, 2013 the vehicle shut down the steering wheel locked up and couldn't be guided and ran into a fire hydrant.

Electronic Stability Control problem #12

The car key will not turn on. I have to reenter the key and turn the steering wheel back and forth to get the key to turn on. Then once I get the car running it falls dead while I'm driving it. I have had my car towed twice because I could not get the key to turn on, this a daily problem and a very dangerous one. If the car continues to turn off in the middle of traffic some one could hurt very bad or killed. ,.

Electronic Stability Control problem #13

My light went out for the passenger seat. Some instrument panel lights went out. Started driving sluggish and acting like it wanted to cut off. Took to dealership who at first could not find the problem, kept saying it was blowing up their computers. Later found out that it was the computer control center under the driver seat. Gm should not have put the control box under the driver seat and I should not have had to pay $1400 to have it fixed. The car was only 2 years old then. The complete car was taken apart and apparently was not put back together correctly because my radio speakers do not work properly now. I will never buy another gm product.

Electronic Stability Control problem #14

2011 car lost acceleration hold light and check engine light came on had to pump gas pedal to prevent car from cutting off . Took car to chevy dealer had to purchase water or fuel pump I forgot which one. Then receive recall for coil. Had that replaced free at dealer. 2012 incident, car lost acceleration at speeds of 40mph again had to pump gas pedal to prevent cut off. Did not take to dealer added gas treatment to fuel and changed gasoline brands. Problem solved for about two weeks. Lost acceleration again. Changed air filter car was good for about 2 days. Continued to drive car for next several years with same problem. 2013 car not producing any heat added anti-freeze, heat came out right after. Next day no heat again anti-freeze container was empty again. Continued to added anti-freeze to prevent car from running hot. 2014 took car to dealer for anti-freeze problem they replaced the container and cap (purchased separately) and flushed the radiator cost $312. Two weeks later car ran hot steam shooting out from under the hood. Anti-freeze container empty again. Returned car to dealer where it is now they told me I had blown head gaskets and that it would cost $1500 to repair on a car I still pay monthly notes. They called the next day told me gm would cover 60% of the cost and I had to pay $600. I feel that gm should add the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo to their list of recall and replace the whole car for all who have paid out money for these reoccurring problems because this car is a piece of junk.

Electronic Stability Control problem #15

I purchased a 2005 chevy Aveo and I have had nothing but problems ever since. After 1 year the car broke down. The idler stuck at full-throttle and burned my timing belt off. Not only the engine but the car was rendered useless after that. I had to replace the engine (my pops did really) and now the second engine has done the very same thing at only 18,000 miles. Twice I was lucky enough to be in a position where my daughter was not with me at the time and I could push my car off of the road myself and not get killed. I called gm and they say that they cannot guarantee that they will fix the problem for me. The first time I talked to them they wouldn't even listen to me. They told me that my VIN number did not match the recalls. . . Though these cars had the very same problem. The car should have either been replaced or I should have gotten my money back. I have been rendered homeless and jobless twice now because of this car. I've lost everything. I can't keep paying on this car with their faulty engines. If I replace the engine it will do the same thing. It's not VIN specific. . . It's the engines period. I could have gotten killed twice!.
