The airbag module in the passenger seat needs to be replaced. To fix this problem it will cost $1400. 00. My extended warranty won't cover it.
The daytime running lights module had a recall on it. I made an apt at the local dealer last week and made an appointment today to get the recall done. Recall number is 14236. They did not fix it, said they didn't have the part even though I contacted them last week and gave them the VIN and the recall number. I picked up the car with the intent of taking it to another dealer and it caught fire on the way home and destroyed the car.
I was about to start the car and the airbag on the left side of the driver's seat exploded, injuring my left arm.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being inspected by a private mechanic, the wiring harness under the driver's side front seat caught fire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the wiring harness failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired and the VIN was unknown. The failure and the current mileage was 123,000.
My mother swerved to keep from hitting a vehicle entering the highway. She ended up in the oncoming traffic lane. Her car was hit by a pick up truck, spun and was hit again by the truck. Traffic was not heavy and it was on a rural road. Her air bags did not deploy in spite of multiple strikes. We will never know if her car cut off due to an ignition problem or it was faulty air bags. She sustained catastrophic injuries including a broken neck, broken back, broken wrists, broken pelvis, broken leg, broken ribs and chest injuries. She was air lifted to a trauma center. She died on 6/9/09. The air bags never deployed which could have helped reduce her injuries.
