Unknown Or Other problem #1

I noticed my driver's side headlight was out and wires attached to the headlight underneath the hood had burnt out. The next day the vehicle would not not start at all. I had it jumped off and had a diagnostic ran on the battery. I was told it was not the battery but the alternator. The next day, I decided to take the vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer so I had it jumped off again. Initially, both headlights came on and a minute later; both headlights went out. The dealer kept the car two days before telling me sockets melted, the battery would have to be replaced along with bulbs and wires. Never once did they mention that there was a problem with the 2002-2008 chevy Aveo electrical system. The dealer initially wanted to charge 1027. 42 and they said they had no idea how this problem had occurred. I only had 30,300 miles on the vehicle. The dealer later charged me 563. . 44 but they cut many corners. After some internet research, I discovered that these type of problems have occurred with the chevy Aveo for years! when I contacted gm, their response was that the 3 year warranty had expired so there wasn't much they could do. Gm didn't even mention the electrical system problem!.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Thermostat housing has cracked due to its unreliable plastic composition. After failure, coolant was leaked throughout engine compartment creating a major fire hazard and causing damage to multiple engine components. After researching this problem, numerous complaints were discovered with the exact nature.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

The thermostat casing and thermostat blew when I was on the freeway. When I took it to the repair person, he said the parts are really cheap. It's a design flaw and chevy should do a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

The plastic thermostat housing completely snapped while driving only 35 miles per hour. There are mulitple Chevrolet Aveo owners that have a car between the years 04-06 that have had the same problem. Not only is this a safty hazard, but a realitive costly fix.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

I bought my 2009 chevy Aveo a year and a half ago. When my car was at 6,000 miles, I drove my car to school and parked it in a parking garage. When I returned to my car at the end of the day it would not start. My car was towed to a dealership and a faulty fuel pump was replaced. When my car reached 16,000 miles I began experiencing shaking at stop lights and stop signs, and very slow delayed acceleration when starting to drive after stopping. The shaking and delayed acceleration would occur randomly yet was very likely when my air conditioning was on. I brought my car to the dealership yet they said the problem could not be replicated. My car is currently around 22,000 miles. Over the last week my car has begun declerating and then suddenly lunging forward while I am driving. The deceleration and lunging forward is happening when I am driving on local roads at about 30mph and when I am on a highway driving around 70mph (and everything in between). Today, pulling out of a parking lot, my car was very delayed in acceleration. When I stopped at a stop light, my car began shaking and then shut off. This problem is sporadic, yet increasingly worrisome and dangerous. Dealerships have not identified a problem and insist there is nothing they can do.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Bought a 2009 chevy Aveo last year sept. 2010 I am just now having a problem with it. Yesterday at the traffic light my car shook and jerked. Then the engine service light flashed along with the hold light. I couldn't hardly manage to move my car. I already had the spark plugs check, what could it be?.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

On the first incident, when driving at 40 mph started shaking like it wanted to stall and stopped accelerating. The next day when stopped at a light it started shaking and the rpm gauge was going up and down. It didn't happen again until about a month later, which is when I took it in, but the dealership couldn't replicate the problem. It kept happening -- the car would start shaking while driving like it wanted to stall and would slow down. Once while driving it dropped the acceleration to about 20 mph and would not go any faster, then just lost power to the engine. I took it again for one week but they couldn't replicate the problem. I got the car back and it was fine for about two weeks but now is happening regularly. Sometimes it just shakes quickly but something the acceleration completely drops and the car will just stop while I am driving, which is scary. I'll try to accelerate and nothing will happen, then finally it will go again. Sometimes I will stop and then the car will lurch forward. The rpm gauge is always moving up and down. There is no pattern as to when it happens. I've taken the car in two more times and still nothing. They just installed a data recorder and I recorded four instances and gave it back; I'm waiting to hear the results. It's very dangerous, because I will be driving in traffic and my car will just stop, and since I am not braking there is no indication to the car behind me. Also, no lights are coming on (no check engine light, etc. ). I had my oil changed the first time since I was about due but that made no difference.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

At 24000 miles the timing belt had to be replaced due to a worn harmonic balancer. Now there are more problems which cannot be duplicated at the dealership. When trying to start the car, it will sometimes not start. After waiting about 5 minutes, it will eventually start. No engine or security lights come on. As you are driving down the road, the car will "miss" and/or lunge at various speeds. It also does not want to take gas, especially at about 30-35 mph. The vehicle "pulls back" while accelerating. Unknown whether this is fuel system, engine, or transmission related.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

The timing belt idler pulley broke, my timing belt is stripped, and my valves are bent on my 2005 chevy Aveo. It has 58,872 miles. I bought it less than 8 weeks ago. Gm is not being cooperative.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo. While driving 35 mph, there was a odor within the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the radio needed to be replaced due to the plastic that melted behind the climate control system. The repairs were completed under warranty. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 900. Updated 01/18/11 updated 03/23/11.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

First, the struts came off, then the piece holding the air filter broke away, now the pulley has exploded and has destroyed the timing belt and serpentine belt. This car is junk made with cheap parts. Not good for someone with children.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

On Monday October 20, 2008 I was involved in an automobile accident, that I believe was directly related to faulty brakes. On two prior occasions, different local Chevrolet dealerships were contacted. On the 2nd visit to the dealership, they stated that the rear brakes were never "adjusted" when this vehicle was purchased, and made an adjustment. They stated that the front brakes were "glazed" due to the pressure on them, and not equal pressure on all four brakes. They stated they cleaned the front brakes the best they could. The brakes never seemed to be completely corrected--most noticeable when the engine was "cold". The problem was erratic. Pumping the brakes prior to driving became a necessity. The accident occurred on dry asphalt, when the brakes did not function properly. The 2008 Chevrolet Aveo (appx 5650 total miles) could not make a complete or immediate stop with these brakes. A stopped pickup truck was hit in the rear. No injuries were reported at the scene. By nm law, a police report is only required if there is a reported injury. Since both drivers exchanged information, and decided to leave the scene on their own, no immediate reports were filed until October 24, 2008. On October 25, 2008 an independent inspection was completed by just brakes, in albuquerque, nm. The static test failed the first two times when the vehicle was cold. A good possibility that there is an erratic problem with the vacuum booster.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Four days ago I received a letter regarding service that was required to be performed under the extended warranty agreement I purchased with my car. The service needed was on the timing belt. On Sunday, two days after receiving the letter the timing belt broke on my car, causing further damage to the engine. My extended warranty ended at 60,700 miles and I currently have 67,000 miles on the car. The letter was too late in arriving for me to prevent this damage being done, as it seems that the timing belt was supposed to be replaced at 60,000 miles. The car is currently at the dealer with the engine having been sent to a "specialist" for further work.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

My complaint involves a replacement timing belt manufactured by general motors detroit and purchased on my behalf from the parts department of steve rayman Chevrolet on March 29, 2010 by ken black of fairground auto and body shop for installation on my 2004 Chevrolet Aveo. The replacement of the timing belt was routine maintenance and was intended to protect my auto from damage that might occur when a timing belt fails. At that time my car mileage was 69631. On October 1, 2010, this replacement timing belt failed after only 4327 miles and 6 months of service. A section of the teeth which engaged the timing belt separated from the body of the belt. The defective belt flew into my engine causing extensive damage. I had the vehicle towed to fairground auto where this damage was repaired at a cost to me of $2098. 30. Mr. Ken black advised me that since the belt was defective he believed that general motors should reimburse me for the repair. He took the belt back to steve rayman Chevrolet where he showed it to the parts manager mike stewart who concurred that the belt definitely had a manufacturing defect and made attempts to get gm in detroit to stand behind the part and take care of my damages. Gm refused to do anything. These details can be verified with ken black of fairground auto at 770 429 8473 as well as mike stewart, parts manager at steve rayman Chevrolet, at 770 953 0100 ext 3047.
