Differential Unit problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer

Four problems related to differential unit have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2001

Side gears and case and side bearings failed at 48,300 miles. Replaced front differential assembly, installed new side gear set and case and side bearings. Repair cost was $1,154. 00 dollars. Bought the car used in Feb. 2001, bearings failed in Nov. 2001. Only 5,000 miles were put on the vehicle in that time frame.

2 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2000

Planetary gear shell, among other internal components broken - $1650 damage.

3 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 09/15/1999

Ring and pinion gear and rear differential were replaced twice. Also steering idler arm and the speed sensor hav e been replaced. Please provide further information.

4 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 01/28/1999

Driver's seat recliner lever broke, rear differential leaking.
