Tank Assembly problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer

Five problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2003

Consumer noticed gas tank was leaking after seeing gasoline on driveway. Consumer states" gas tank is rusted and developed a hole. Dealer has been contacted.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2001

When depressing brake pedal to come to a stop, pedal is hard and will not go down. If I keep my foot on pedal eventually it stops but it requires longer stopping distance. While driving makes humming, moaning noise until abs light comes on and problem stops. Braking becomes easier. Was told by mechanic that right front hub bearing is bad and needs to be replaced. Was told this may clear up abs/braking situation. Fuel gauge does not work properly. Shows half tank when near empty. As fuel level goes down, gauge goes up. Fuel pump went out and had to be replaced.

3 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/11/1999

Noisy gas tank leaking gas. Yh.

4 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/01/1999

While filling fuel tank fumes entered into vehicle and caused occupant to feel sick. This may possibly result in loss of control .

5 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/15/1998

There is a fuel smell inside vehicle when filling up with gas. This only happens when consumer fills fuel tank full , not when fuel tank is filled half way.
