Five problems related to headlights have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Lights on dashboard for 4x4/2x4 began flashing while driving. Vehicle was in normal mode. Also, service 4 wd drive light came on. Took to country cehvrolet in warrenton, va-advised of 4wd problem also advised check engine light comes on, headlights dim occassionally when driving. In addition, when engine is turned off and radio remains on, battery died 2 times. Mechanic found circuit 1133 shorted to steering column bracket, replaced wire. Problem reoccurred immediately. Returned to country chev-rechecked and replaced wiring. 4wd lights still flash. Unable to determine trouble.
While driving with headlights on, instrument lights and the headlights would go off without prior warning. This could happen from time to time.
Daytime running lamps were standard safety feature. Began working intermittenly, took to ealer for sevice. They disconnected, GMC rep said would not fix due to egineered improperly at factory.
Daytime running lamps are listed on the invoice as a safety feature and dealer states that they were removed by general motors and not to be activated, even though dealer has attempted to do so.
Floor vents under dashboard put out very hot air, when controls are set to off. Also, daytime running lights do not have an override switch, which would allow the driver to turn lights off.
