It sounded like tin cans were tied to the back of our 2002 Blazer today (with around 37,000 miles) - we were told that the emergency parking brake pads exploded (the service manager's word) and ruined our rotors and rear brake pads, it will cost around $1200 to fix.
Emergency brake not holding/working. Parking brake shoes glazed/worn on a 2 year old truck with 30,000 miles on it. This is an unusually high failure rate for the parking brake, the regular brakes are still good but the parking brake has failed. The g. M. Service personnel confirmed that they have seen a lot of emergency/park brake failures.
