The contact informed an independent mechanic of the failure and the brake lights were replaced along with the brake pedal switch; however, the failure recurred. A dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in a steering recall. The failure mileage was 98,760.

The dealer stated that her VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 08v231000 (exterior lighting:brake lights:switch). The contact would be responsible for the repair costs. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that the rear brake lights were not working. He took the vehicle to a repair shop and they checked the fuses and the bulb. The mechanic stated that nothing was wrong. The contact located a safety recall, but the manufacturer stated that his VIN was not included. He believed that his vehicle should be included because it was experiencing the same failure. The recall number was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 50,000.
The brake lights and hazard lights were not working, there was no recall but a service bulletin. It has been fixed twice, and currently consumer has to pay out of pocket to fix it. Called the dealership, they had no record. But went to mechanic shop, they had a record. Contacted gm, they also had it on record for the bulletin, and they contacted the dealer. This first happened about a week ago on July 10, 2005. Replaced the battery, but the brake lights and hazard lights did not work, checked the fuses, and went to repair shop the put in new switches and still did not.
While driving at any speed stop lamps and rear hazard lamps malfunctioned. Dealer indicated sorry this vehicle was not included in the recall. (recall number 01v-364).
Consumer started the vehicle and pressed the gas pedal but the vehicle did not move. The consumer applied pressure to the accelerator, and it took little while for the vehicle to start moving. The dealer inspected the vehicle three times and could not resolve the problem. The consumer stated the transmission made some noises, the dealer discovered some parts of the transmission were damaged, however days later the vehicle went back to not accelerating and the engine racing. The consumer was told that the manufacturer would extended the warranty on the transmission. The brake light was inoperative there was a clicking noise in the drivers seat.
