general problems of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer - part 1

2019 chevy Blazer. Car would not turn off the electrical components when parked. Put car in park and walked away and there is a warning note that says, "shift to park. " but the car was in park. Called chevy and they know about the issue on the 2019-2023 vehicles. They sent me the technical service bulletin. Back in 2020, the car had the shifting harness and button replaced and we just had to have it replaced again because it is a consistent issue with the vehicle. Except this time, the dealer charged us $668. 40 to fix it! it is a known issue by the company and they sent me the service bulletin to get it fixed. It should have been covered by chevy, or, at least a recall should be instituted. The power to the car wouldn't shut off. We were able to jump the car to get it started again.

Thermostat housing replacement + dexcool: p0128, thermostat stuck. Was told this can cause engine to overheat.

I believe my thermostat is a problem. I keep getting "p012b" "coolant under operating temperature" codes on my obd2 meter. This seems to coincide with "driver assist reduced" on my instrument cluster on my dash board. I researched it and on a forum it sounds to be a very common problem. Someone said to report it on here. I can clear the "p012b" error code with my obd2 and my thermostat instantly becomes responsive however it comes back within 2 days or so.

The thermostat is stuck open and needs replaced. If left as it is, could create overheating issues for the engine and even more damage. A service engine light was illuminated prior to finding the issue. The light was accompanied by a warning about assisted steering. Two days after the light first came on, a Chevrolet service department diagnosed the problem and is repairing it. An invoice can be provided at a later date once repairs are completed.

My transmission is leaking fluid and has trouble going in reverse. This model has had two recalls in 2020 and 2021 with the one from 2020 was specifically for missing parts on the transmission causing leaks. My car is under the mileage for the transmission to even be a problem as stated by multiple mechanics. If there was a recall why wasn’t I informed before the transmission began to leak. The is serviced regularly by dealership where car was purchased. My safety is important to me but I guess not to Chevrolet because I mever was told about a possible issue with the transmission. So I hope yall take notice and do the right thing.

Shift lever to park alert on dashboard. Paid to have shift lever replaced on Blazer. Also had same problem on 2018 malibu. . Paid myself to have shift lever replaced! I was never notified about a class action suit. I believe this is a major problem on gm vehicle. Need gm to have a recall!.

Warning message flashes "put car in park" after putting it in park and pushing the stop button. It flashes for a few minutes, beeps the horn alert, and you can't lock it . It was diagnosed at a chevy dealership as needing new switch and jumper harness at almost $800.

The car does not sense when it is put into park. The alarm continues to ding and the car will not turn off . It displays a message stating shift to park.

Coolant temp gauge stuck on cold, ac quits blowing cold air, reads the thermostat code when check engine light comes on. Was told my car needs a new thermostat and a coolant temp sensor. This has proven to be a common issue among Blazers. There is no rhyme or reason when this happens and will fix itself after a while, but then happens again.

"shift to park" message appears when parked (even if safety brake is engaged) and attempting to turn off the vehicle. The vehicle does not turn off and remains running for various periods of time. Unable to turn the vehicle off, leaving it unsecure and drains the battery. This happens consistently. I contacted my local dealership and they confirmed getting several of these reports through their shop, but no recall has been made.

My check engine light came on (solid) and my ac stopped blowing cold air and my auto start stopped working. I used a diagnostic tool to read the code and it said "p0128 coolant thermostat $07e8". The same thing happens with my heat when it gets too cold out.

Action required: steering assist is reduced drive with care & check engine light comes on after the alert message. When these are on, the ac does not get cold. Unhooking the battery resets it for a few days and then it comes back on.

Consistent Blazer issue. Error coded “steering assist reduced. Please drive with care”. There is a thermostat issue. Causing the car to sputter and not run properly. This a common issue with Blazers and a manufacturer default. Should be recalled and covered. It is a safety issue.

Nothing necessarily happened, but I've been getting the "steering assist reduced, drive with care" pop up, which assist I've been reading might mean a faulty thermostat. Sounds like a common issue and may e time for a recall? only 60k miles on my Blazer.

I am having a problem when I shift my car into park to stop the car it will shut the engine off, but it will not shut off the accessories, and I have to restart the car and tried over and over again until it shuts off. Also the dash lights up to shift the car to park, but I already have.

Yesterday I received a message saying driver assist reduced. Today received the same message, and heard a whirring noise when car was started.

My 2019 Blazer gave a steering assist warning on 2 Nov 2024. I was aware of a recall for other Blazers but for some reason my VIN was not among those recalled. I took it to the dealership on 6 Nov 2024. The dealership has determined that the issue is indeed the same issue with those other Blazers that have been recalled but refuses to include my car in the recall because the VIN number wasn't originally among that recall. I was told that the car needed anew temperature gage and that they would have to order it, however, the component was available outside of the dealership. I paid for the diagnostics and the part, being told that the light(s) would stay on, I would still be able to drive it and that I would receive a call when the part came in. It is my understanding that the steering assist reduced can affect the power steering and essentially revert back to manual power steering, potentially causing a loss of control while driving and increasing the risk of accidents. There were no warnings of the steering failure assist warning. It just appeared on Nov 2, 2024 at 1130am. About 1240pm I noticed that the temp gage was inop and the check engine light was now illuminated. I contend that because gm has already identified the thermostat issue serious enough to do a recall, then all Blazers with that recall issue, VIN number aside, should be given the same consideration and not have to pay for something that gm has already taken responsibility for. The dealership however does not agree for the simple fact that the VIN was not identified in the original recall.

Steer assist and thermostat issue. The vehicle has 42,000 miles on it. Have not been able to obtain/find a new thermostat since November 2024.

My check engine light is on the, the temperature meter is stuck on cold, the a/c only blows hot air, and the engine fan is blaring loud as heck the moment the car is started. Also it keeps telling me the steering assist has failed. I have replaced the battery and checked the coolant. Still the same issues.

The vehicle is not recognizing the car is in park when it is placed in park.

When I shift my car into park, I’m getting a “shift into park” warning on the dashboard and alarm is sounded telling me the car is not in park while it is. The car won’t shut off.

When I am shifting my vehicle to park (gear shift in console area) and turn my vehicle off I will get an error code in my dashboard that I need to shift to park. My gear shift in the console is lite up p and my dashboard electronic system says p; but when I try to turn my car off it won't turn off and stays on again giving me the error code that need to shift to park. I then have to turn my car back on to then try and turn it off with the same error code coming on. I can try pushing the gear shift further with no success, shift to different gears back to park, and try waiting a few minutes after shifting to park before turning it off and still no success. This is a safety issue that my car is not really in park and will take off if I take my foot off the brake when this is all occurring. I at one point had to turn my vehicle on and back off with no success at least 5 times before I can finally get it to turn off. This problem has been confirmed by multiple Chevrolet dealerships with all of them saying they have seen many vehicles (same make and model with other models included) with this issue. Manufacturer knows about it.

When I stop and put my vehicle in park the panel lights up and says put car in park and it is in park. I am not able to shut off my car when this does that. There have been recalls on the 2019 Blazers for this specific reason. Mine did not make the cut. I had to pay $400. 00 to get this fixed from the Chevrolet dealership and it's the same thing that has been happening for the other 2019 Blazers that had recalls. I would like to be reimbursed. Thank you.

2019 chevy Blazer rs - 39,217 miles and shifter assembly is malfunctioning and will not allow car to turn off properly and leaving lights, beeping and miscellaneous dash indicators on. This is a known issue with chevy.

When in park my car says “shift to park” when it has clearly been shifted into park. I’ve read forums and it’s the same issue for many Chevrolet cars.

There were 2 incidents. 1) got a steering control error, plus my ac stopped working and the temperature gauge would exceed zero. I was able to drive. I had the error code reset and the problem went away 2) car stalled on a busy street and I got a service all wheel drive warning. I was able to restart the car and the error went away.

I'm getting a shift to park message on my dashboard when the car is in park position telling me to take action with a loud dinging sound. I need to know if this is a gm issue? thanks.

Right before my warranty went off I had my car in for service. I also mentioned the shift to park light coming on after putting my car in park. They could not duplicate the problem. On the next service I mentioned it was happening more and more. They wanted to charge me a minimum of $500 just to look at it but also informed me it was a known issue. Because my warranty was now expired by a few hundred miles they wanted me pay if I wanted them to look. Absolutely not. Known issue with hundreds of the same complaint=‘s recall fix our cars chevy!!!.

When shifting into park, system fails to detect that car is in park and gives the alert/error message informing driver to “shift to park”. This error prevents the car from turning off or locking. Further, driver is unable to differentiate between if the car is actual in park or not, which is a major safety issue. A car not recognizing being in park, can pose a huge risk to the driver and any around the car when it is in this state.

When I placed my car in park, I received a shift to park warning. I was unable to shut the car off. I had to return home because I was unable to leave my car. Upon returning home, I was still unable to turn off my car. I had to keep restarting, going in reverse, back in drive, then to park. Kept receiving the message for over an hour. I was trapped in my car, unable to turn it off or lock it. Took it to dealership and they are aware of the problem, but no recall has been issued. How can this be legal?? I had to repair the car due to the fact that I felt unsafe to go any where. My bumper to bumper expired in 2022 and this is not covered on the 6 year warranty. My car only has 37,196 miles. Is there anything you can do? also if a recall is issued, will I be notified?.

Shift to park will not disengage even though the car is in park. The alert will not stop sounding. Additionally, the radio and car will remain on and doors will not lock.
