Dashboard goes on like a christmas tree (almost all lights turn on abs gas light traction control parking service light) check engine stays on then disappears after a few days. Transmission won’t gear into shifts only stays in one shift.
1. The vehicle does not recognize it's in park periodically and will not shut off 2. Thermostat housing and thermostat failure 3. Tint covered chrome on exterior of body peeling off only had the car 3 weeks currently at dealership repairing thermostat out of pocket.
Shift to park error in 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. This has affected numerous vehicles that should be issued a recall and not have to pay over $2500. 00 to fix!!.
At startup, I would receive a message that said, steering assist reduced. There were no check engine lights or warning lights. My air conditioning stopped working, and my temperature gauge on the dash remained at cold. I also noticed the radiator fans were on full blast, continuously. I called the dealer, and they weren't sure what was causing that. I told them I was getting codes #u0401 & p0128. They asked me to clear the codes to see if they returned. I cleared the codes, but they returned immediately on restart of the engine. I'm going to replace the thermostat but I didn't understand the #u0401 code, so did further research. I found 2017 bulletin #17-na-158 which seamed relevent to my issues, and vehicle fitment that confirmed my 2019 chevy Blazer is included. I then came to find that the un-shielded low voltage wires for the coolant temperature sensor are routed through the same harness as high voltage coil wiring. Some of us know that emi will affect low voltage signals. As an hvac system designer, I know that un-shielded low voltage communication wiring cannot run parallel two line voltage power wiring. The effects are not continuous, but definitely reoccurring. I also understand there has not been a recall for this issue which surprises me. I can replace the thermostat even in its difficult position, but I don't feel comfortable in separating the low voltage wiring from the harness. I understand that dealers who are aware of this issue, charge a hefty fee to do so. It's definitely one that I can't afford.
When you try to turn the vehicle off, there is a “shift to park” warning with the vehicle already in park. The vehicle has only 19,000 miles.
My transmission can accelerate with the cruse control on, transmission also sputters at lower rpm. Lastly my shift to park issue kills the battery.
We have a start / stop issue with our 2019 chevy Blazer . The dashboard states to put into park . We cannot turn car off with this on dashboard . Why is this not a safety recall , because we have seen a lot off people complaining about the same issue . We called the customer service for general motors corporate , and they told us there is no recall for that . We also got a postcard from a lawyer stating there is a settlement this . What are legal options to get this resolved .
Engine - code p0128 engine coolant thermostat. This is a safety issue because it reduces the power steering on vehicle, auto stop stopped working, unable to remote start vehicle. Issue has been confirmed at an independent service center (I work at an auto collision center). Warning lamp - check engine light. Message on dash - power steering reduced. Appears everything came on at the same time. Per dealership items most likely needing replacement are engine coolant thermostat and engine coolant temperature sensor but ecm module could also need replacement. Advised common problem but no recall power train - transmission shutters when accelerating. Safety is at risk because vehicle will not accelerate or accelerate too quickly. Called to dealership advise flush transmission fluid twice to fix issue. We have done this 4 times in the past year. Shutter temporarily reduces but does not go away. Per service advisor it is a "function design" and if flushing transmission fluid does not fix issue then transmission will need to be replaced. There are no warning lights or messages on dash electrical - vehicle says shift to park when vehicle is in park and will not allow vehicle to turn off. It is a safety issue because vehicle will not shut off. Problem confirmed by an independent service center we have already replaced the in-line wire harness jumper. This did not fix the issue. Advised from service center that entire shifter would need to be replaced.
Ac not working, temp gauge stuck at c, steering assist reduced happened a year ago, went away, came back. Would fix short term if battery was disconnected and reconnected or if code was cleared. Found lots of others with this same issue.

Consistent Blazer issue. Error coded “steering assist reduced. Please drive with care”. There is a thermostat issue. Causing the car to sputter and not run properly. This a common issue with Blazers and a manufacturer default. Should be recalled and covered. It is a safety issue.
Reduced steering warning, the temperature gague is stuck on c, radiator fan is running on high as soon as I start my car and the transmission is shifting hard at second and third gears.
When I go to put my car in park, I get a notice warning chime to shift it into park. Which then results me into not being able to turn off my car. I am then forced to sit in the car and try to wiggle the shifter until it registers that the car itself is in park. . This first happened to me a few days ago with my toddler and infant child in the car. Compromising my safety as well as the safety of my children, since I was now forced to sit in a public parking lot with my kids in the car trying to not only turn off the car, but also trying to make sure my car was properly parked and not an endangerment to others. I recently called a dealership on feb26,2025 and found out I had the problem fixed once before in 2021. I’m now currently working on getting my car to the dealer to get this issue resolved ASAP. Which is an inconvenience to me, my schedule as well as the schedule of others, since I now need assistance getting to and from the dealer along with taking my children to school and or appointments.

When attempting to put my car in park, the car issues a warning stating the car is not in park, it doesn't recognize the gear shift being in park, therefore, I am unable to shut my car off or lock it up. It is a known manufacturing defect and gm refuses to cover the cost to add a bandaid to it as there is no permanent fix. This is a safety issue, and now my car is not reliable, nor safe. Gm refuses to issue a recall on this.
Shift to park message coming up on dash screen eventhough shifter was in park. Engine would not turn off. Had to shift several times for vehicle to recognize park . There was a recall on some 2019 chevy Blazers and a technical service bulletin issued, but my VIN number is not on the recall list. The current mileage is 37752. I bought the vehicle new. Dealership relaced shifter control at a cost to me of $553. 60. If there is a safety issue, should a recall cover all ?.
When I put my car into park and go to shut the car off if starts saying put car in park even tho it is already in park. It will not allow me to fully shut car off when it says that. I usually have to put it back into drive and back into park again for it to register.
The Blazer is having a recurring p0128 code. We have informed the dealership. This has been going on for 2 years or so. I reset the code with a code reader and it stays off for a few months usually. Tried to have the dealership look at it one of the last times it happened but they wouldn't just look at it. . . They wanted to set up an appointment. We needed the car so I reset the code again. Now it is time to get it fixed. I know it needs a thermostat and temperature sensor. The cost to install it will be close to $1000. This should not be at my cost. This is a know issue with the 3. 6l engine and it affects the emissions of the vehicle along with many other parts of the engine. I am reaching out to see what can be done.
When placing the vehicle into park there is often a issue with the sensor recognizing that the vehicle stating that it is not when attempting to power off the vehicle. When stopping there are times that the vehicle is difficult to stop and there is not fault code as to what may be occurring.
2019 Blazer with 73,399 miles is in park, but displays "shift to park". System does not recognize that the vehicle is in park. Vehicle will not turn off even after shifting transmission to drive and then to park again. "shift to park" message won't reset. Dealership said it's $1,642 to fix issue. Afraid to drive the vehicle because it won't shut off, can't be locked, and will run out of gas/battery if "shift to park" displayed message can't be reset/fixed.
When I am shifting my vehicle to park (gear shift in console area) and turn my vehicle off I will get an error code in my dashboard that I need to shift to park. My gear shift in the console is lite up p and my dashboard electronic system says p; but when I try to turn my car off it won't turn off and stays on again giving me the error code that need to shift to park. I then have to turn my car back on to then try and turn it off with the same error code coming on. I can try pushing the gear shift further with no success, shift to different gears back to park, and try waiting a few minutes after shifting to park before turning it off and still no success. This is a safety issue that my car is not really in park and will take off if I take my foot off the brake when this is all occurring. I at one point had to turn my vehicle on and back off with no success at least 5 times before I can finally get it to turn off. This problem has been confirmed by multiple Chevrolet dealerships with all of them saying they have seen many vehicles (same make and model with other models included) with this issue. Manufacturer knows about it.

8 out of 10 times I put the vehicle in park I receive a "shift to park" alert. I have to put it in another gear several times before it recognizes it is parked. Sometimes flicking the shifter push-in piece on the bottom will work. I am unsure if the car is officially parked when I don't get this message.
When the vehicle is shifted into park the indicator on the dashboard and the on the console next to the shifter display 'p' but when ignition is turned off a warning on the dash shows shift into park. It is on the web with multiple complaints. This problem appears on other gm platforms.
2019 chevy Blazer rs - 39,217 miles and shifter assembly is malfunctioning and will not allow car to turn off properly and leaving lights, beeping and miscellaneous dash indicators on. This is a known issue with chevy.
There is a current recall in place #19-na-206 that I believe should include my vehicles VIN number. There is an intermittent shift to park message that appears when the vehicle had been shifted into park and the ignition has been turned to off position. Making it unsafe as I am not sure if the vehicle is actually in park or not.
I cannot shut off my vehicle. When I turn off engine warning message and alert binging tells me to shift to park. The vehicle is in park but vehicle does not register that it’s in park. I’m stuck in vehicle which will not stop alerts and runs down battery. This is a hazardous situation. I can’t tell if car is actually engaged in park or not. This started happening intermittently over the last month but now it happens 8 times out of 10 when I try to shut off the vehicle.

Steering assist reduction from coolant temperature reading malfunction. Power steering reduction risking potential loss of control of vehicle. Code confirmed by chevy dealer.
Received repeated message on display " steering assist reduced, drive with care" engine races at times and auto stop quicks working. Could lead to a crash if steering is restricted due to p0128 code was repeatedly triggered as a fault code. Turned out to be thermostat which is being replaced on thousands of these vehicles. You can search for the message. Gm is replacing under powertrain warranty however many vehicles are beyond warranty. This is approximately a $1000 repair.
Error code p0128. Engine temp sensor keeps going off and on. Temp gauge drops to 0 and doesn’t read, ac goes out, check engine light comes on, steering assist is reduced drive with care notification comes up. This error code and same issue is all over gm forums. Thousands are experiencing this same issue, having to spend over $1000 to get it fixed. Ridiculous this isn’t a recall yet.
Hi my wife arrived home from work and put the truck in park. A message came up on the instrument panel saying shift to park and would not let her shut the vehicle off. I went out could not figure out what was going on because the truck was clearly in park. After moving the gear shift around the message went away and I was able to shut off the truck. A couple of days later when she got to work, it did it again. Moving the gear shift around turned it off. I took the truck to the dealer 10/18/23 and inquired about a recall for this because so many people are having the same issue, on several gm makes. No recall and I had to pay close to $572. 99 for them to replace the gear shift assembly. We just bought the truck in Feb of 23 and paid cash. $30. 000. At time of purchase the truck had 21000 miles. Today it has only 24000.
I took my vehicle to the dealership for the recommended oil change on 09/15/2023. I am extremely good about keeping up on the routine maintenance. Upon arrival, the technician asked if I knew that my check engine light was on. I stated no, it was not on during my drive in and has not been on previously whatsoever. I scheduled a diagnostic for 09/20/2023 and brought it back to the dealership with 68,191 being the mileage. It was determined that my thermostat needs to be replaced. I then began receiving the message steering assist is reduced" which is very unsettling. I am finding that a lot of newer model 2019+ chevy Blazer owners are struggling with the exact same temperature issue, even those with way fewer mileage than mine for example a person who just had 25k on theirs. This needs to be taken more seriously / addressed further by the manufacturer.
Here are the problems I've been facing: 1. Shift to park error: my Blazer often displays a "shift to park" message, even when the vehicle is already in the park position. This happens randomly and has no discernible pattern. As a result, the vehicle won't turn off, and I'm forced to repeatedly shift back and forth and apply excessive force to engage the park mode. 2. Steering assist reduced message and cold temperature gauge: another recurring issue is the appearance of a "steering assist reduced" message. At the same time, the temperature gauge gets stuck at the cold position, and the check engine light remains on. This seems to be a common problem among Blazer owners and requires immediate attention through a recall. 3. Fuel-related acceleration problem: I've noticed a fuel-related problem that affects acceleration. The vehicle experiences sudden slowdowns, with the rpms dropping, even when I maintain a steady throttle position. Then, out of nowhere, the Blazer regains speed and accelerates. This unpredictable behavior is dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately. 4. Random loss of power steering and power brakes: on several occasions, my Blazer has lost power steering and power brakes without any warning. It's incredibly unnerving and puts both the driver and others on the road at risk. It's important to note that my Blazer is well-maintained and has less than 60,000 miles on it. These issues should not be happening under these circumstances. I strongly believe that these problems require the attention of the manufacturer, and I urge them to initiate recalls to rectify these safety concerns.
When the vehicle has physically shifted to park and the push to start/stop has been engaged, the dashboard will light up that the vehicle needs to be shifted into park.
