1 Conventional Parking Brake problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 09/22/2004

Emergency brake not holding/working. Parking brake shoes glazed/worn on a 2 year old truck with 30,000 miles on it. This is an unusually high failure rate for the parking brake, the regular brakes are still good but the parking brake has failed. The g. M. Service personnel confirmed that they have seen a lot of emergency/park brake failures.

2 Conventional Parking Brake problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 10/15/2000

The parking brake does not hold, even after adjustment. The dealer admits that the parking brake on the Blazer does not work and says that is the way they are built. The parking brake will not hold the Blazer at all, it is all most like you did not set the parking brake.

3 Conventional Parking Brake problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

Failure Date: 04/15/2000

If parking brake is set and you attempt to move the vehicle, the bolt that secures the parking brake assembly inside the wheel fails. I think this is a potential for catastrophic brake failure if the parking brake component were to interfere with the movement of the wheels. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they stated that this is a known issue and all they are doing is replacing the bolt. The state of texas vehicle inspection requires setting the parking brake and attempting to drive the vehicle, which would result in the failure of this bolt. The service advisor stated that the bolt was about the thickness of a crushed coke can. I think this bolt needs to be replaced with a more secure bolt that will not fail.
