Two problems related to front air bag have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet C1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Employee was traveling on the interstate, had to brake hard to avoid traffic, and was struck in rear by a vehicle doing approx 50 mph. It pushed him into vehicle in front damaging the front of vech. No airbag deployed! the force of the impact knocked him unconscious.
My son's 2002 Chevrolet extended cab pu truck was struck in the drivers side door, forced off the road, went head first through an iron 6' fence, down a 7' embankment and struck a stone pillar head on and his air bad did not deploy.
