When ever it rains or if I go through the carwash, the transmission shifts very hard. Feels like someone hit you from behind. Seems like when the transmission harness gets wet is when the problem occurs.

Traveling approximately 25 mph I began for an upcoming stop sign, two school buses were already stopped as I applied the brakes the peddle went quickly to the floor with little results, I was able to put the truck in low gear, turned onto the shoulder and with the emer. Brake and what little brake that was left I was able to get stopped safely. I would learn the welding on the upper shock bracket had failed allowing movement which allowed metal to rub against the brake line which runs past that area. The line failed with the lose of fluid and the brakes. Repairs included replacing of the upper frt. Susp control arm assy misc brackets and shelds and rewelding upper shock bracket. It also included replacement of the brake line.

I have a 2003 Chevrolet pickup with approx. 26,000 miles on it and the transmission clunks loudly when upshifting and downshifting and gets worse by the week. It is now slamming into gear and I am afrfaid to drive it because it might fail at speed or in traffic and I am afraid it may cause an accident. The dealer and manufacturer both say it is a normal condition and they have not had any complaints of this type but there is a bulletin out about it. I am concerned that they may be trying to cover up an apparent defect on the affected vehicles. This was my husbands truck, who passed away in April and I need it to haul various things to the farm which is a 6 hr. Drive but now I am afraid to make the trips in this vehicle. It has never been abused or overloaded and I would appreciate any help you could affrod me on this matter. Thank you in advance for your attentuion to this matter. Julie k. Hamilton.

1997 Chevrolet c-1500 p/u auto trans has hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear. I have researched this and found a large number of g/m owners have experinced this defect and g/m has not or will not recall or repair this problem.
Transmission went out without prior notice. He was traveling on highway when vehicle started jerking, and vehicle had to towed. Dealership was aware of problem.
Steering defect will end up causing accidents and death if caught by surprise, it makes you jerk the steering wheel at speed while making a a turn. Transmission problem is wide spred, every shop I contacted could tell me the error code(1870) and the solution, and that this part always fails just outside of warranty. Gm kows this, and yet does not help. This defect is causing consumers from 400-2800 in repairs for a part with a known failure rate.
