Chevrolet C2500 owners have reported 3 problems related to transfer case (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The transfer case on my Chevrolet 2500 hd crew cab has went out for the 2nd time in 2 years, 1st incident was March 2004 ,and now April 2005. Plastic gears seem to strip whenever engaged in 4-wheel drive after not being utilized for any length of time.

Pump retaining pin on the transfer case failed, permitting the pump to wear a hole in the transfer case with sudden release of the engine oil. Chevrolet is not claiming knowledge.

While driving vehicle the consumer tried to switch from regular driving to 4-wheel drive. The colder it got, the slower the switch happened. Consumer had contacted dealer and they said it was not a defect.
